Over the last few days we have been hearing about strong head winds (http://www.pprune.org/6603691-post30.html) being the excuse for a number of Tornado aircraft to take up residence on the beautiful island of Malta.

Is a Tornado a strong wind? :D

It would now appear that there may have been similar strong winds that have been effecting aircraft off the coast of Algeria?? I was in my back garden a few days ago when I saw this aircraft (http://glojo.unospace.net/images/Merlin_JGS3798.jpg) being blown towards 'an undisclosed airfield in the South-West of England';)

Could the Bermuda Triangle now be the Casablanca Triangle that relocates aircraft from the Algerian coast to Sunny Torquay?

The Tornado is not the only aircraft to have been forced to divert owing to unkind weather conditions.. The Danish Air Force (http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110603/local/danish-f-16s-land-in-malta.368622) have had two Falcon's that have decided to take a week-end break on that same island.

If only these Italian airfields could move to avoid any foreseeable adverse weather fronts :p:)

Talking of falcons.. The Torquay National Guard were scrambled to identify an unidentified craft flying at high speeds in the skies above Torquay..

Yup, yet another falcon (http://glojo.unospace.net/images/Peregrine_JGS3649.jpg)

Apologies if my humour has not bought a smile to a few faces and yes that Merlin was photographed above my garden as was the falcon. I am aware of the fact that this Merlin is still at present based in the UK and I would have preferred using a slower shutter speed for the helicopter but my camera was set-up for snapping the local fast flying raptor. No not the F-22 :O

I do have other pictures of 'intercepts' but do not want to push my luck

Hi Brian,
Definitely a young peregrine falcon. It certainly does look like a buzzard though.

This image (http://glojo.unospace.net/images/Peregrine_JGS3650.jpg) was taken approximately two seconds after the one in the previous post.

This is a picture of a buzzard (http://glojo.unospace.net/images/Buzzard_JGS2359.jpg) in the same air space :) Flying over our garden.

For Brian's information this one IS a buzzard :ok:

I was always of the opinion that nice locations always posed a threat to the technical integrity of operational aircraft. LOA can cause no end of faults alsoi!
