To anyone to operate the 737-800 or -900, a quick question:

Do you ever hear buzzsaw while cruising if the aircraft is heavy? I was wondering, if the N1 is 92 or 93% at cruise, will you still hear it?

Thanks for the help.

No. At high altitude the lack of air density means that the sound waves aren't sustainable. You can sometimes feel/hear thrust note that is transmitted as vibration through the airframe.

Talking about headsets.. What's the most recommend headset for the 738? Bose seems to be toooo quite and not so compact as the telex airman but it seems to be tooo good to hear anything other than scratching your own head! Any suggestions?

I've used the Telex ANR 850 for several years and I'm very pleased with it. It is light weight, doesn't not require any batteries and has sufficient ANR to remove that annoying sound from the wind. Naturally, the bose headsets will have a lot more ANR but I find their size to be a big problem and I can't be arsed with replacing batteries all the time...

As above, telex 850 for few years, now Bose A20.

Like other good things in life really, not a matter of size, but rather quality. :}

My BOSE headset has a tendency to pick up interference from the window heat when I move my head closer to the side window for what it's worth. (B738)

No, to my ears the CFM56-7B never buzz as much or as loud as its brother on the Airbus...

I have solved it on 737s and 738s with Telex ANR 850, for 9 years, with no problems yet...
