Ok.. now reports that an FJ Fury has now also run off the same runway and is sitting next to the F16.. Pilot is also ok..

It looks like the pilot gets a face full of instrument panel for good measure. I would have expected the seat straps to have resisted the forward momentum and avoid that happening.

by the looks of what is coming out of the tail pipe around photo 11, the turbines got a good sandblasting.:\

The pilot gets picked up in a Volkswagen Beetle convertible. Nice! :ok:
After the discussions the other day re the length of time it takes for the fire engines to arrive (perception versus reality), 1.30 mins for the "dinky" truck and the Big Yellow one went past on the road as about 1.45 mins.

Too long 'demonstrating' aerodynamic braking with no airbrakes deployed (which I believe is usual for F16 roll-outs) and a downwind component. Note smoke on video passing over the tailplane suggesting 90`+ crosswind.

The nature of the terrain afterwards was bad luck as the Fury clearly got away with the same incident in a more eye pleasing fashion.

Glad the Pilots Ok. In the past they have installed MAAS Arresting Gear Runway 18-36 at Oshkosh when Military Fast Jets have been attending but it looks as though the hook has not been lowered so one must assume that there was no MAAS installed, or if there was I think the Pilot can expect an interview without coffee!

If you pause the video at around 0.55, just after back of blokes head, there's something dark on the edge of the runway that might have been an incursion - or caused the pilot to think there was about to be one - could be the buggy at 1.50. Also if you listen to the old bloke just after the jet goes off, he mentions a buggy.
Of course the crucial footage is JFK-shooting quality and enough for the conspiracists to deduce it was a UFO...:hmm:

Looks like a lot of stores hanging beneath the wings. It might have been smarter to go clean wing into a 6000 ft runway despite the performance of the jet.
Not obvious from the video but seems like he went off the side?
It does seem like he came off sideways as he seems to end up closer to the camera man than when he was on the runway.
But like the poster said, JFK quality and steadiness of the camera !!! LOL.

And the stronger "carrier-certified" landing gear of the FJ-4 had somewhat to do with the better outcome as well.
Yes, I do know that the FJ-4 has an empty weight of 13,210 lb compared to the 18,900 lb of the F-16.

I took the series of photos of the F16 and at first I thought he was going to make a Touch & Go. He was way down the runway before he got his wheels down and I thought he was going to hit the throttle and take it back up. He was still under power when he hit the dirt and the dirt killed the engine.
He is landing on 36 as far as I can work out from the video. (Oshkosh truck depot in the background, blue dot on the RWY close to the displaced thr markings etc)
Thatīs 8002 ft.......not marginal in dry conditions in an F-16, even with some fuel in the dollies and some crap in the travel pod.
I seen "a few" F-16 landnings from the TWR as an ATCO......leads landing looked like what you would expect. Wingman......waaay too fast even at first when the camera pics him up.
