I am travelling to the the US from Australia for a lightning fact finding mission with regards to working as an instructor. Any ideas where the best areas to start looking? I have 10 days to look.Interested in Dallas or Florida areas.

Oh sure. Just were it is warm ? Why just ten days? Remember 911 changed things . Good luck but you would be lucky to get a job fueling . But there are those rare exceptions and your enthusiasm and accent will go a long way. Extremely good luck, mate! Consider more than 10 days.

Hate to disapoint but there are at least 5700 airline pilots out on furlough here. Some have gone back to instucting if they can find a job. Unless you have alot of experiance or are a specialist in some area it won't be easy. Plus when times are tought, it's who you know rather than what you know that will land you a good job.

Is it impossable? No, but you will need to do a lot of foot work and don't limit yourself to one area.

Good luck!

AV8...I'd do a little more homework from home before I set off on a trip. For instance, you may want to organize to do some flying over here to convert your license, buy the Red books to sit the written or do make some long distance phone calls. Email me if you like.
