All Hail the Spagetti Monster (www.venganza.org) and those touched by his Noodly Appendage!! :D:D:D
BBC: An Austrian atheist has won the right to be shown on his driving-licence photo wearing a pasta strainer as "religious headgear". (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14135523)

chuks 13th Jul 2011, 16:16 He is going to have to keep that thing handy to put on every time the cops want him to show his ID. Guess who is going to have the last laugh?
I was listening to some young German convert to Islam bleating away about how good life is for a woman in that faith. 'Girls don't have to wear the veil until they are 14 years old,' was her Thought for the Day on that, and she was not so very happy about a young Turkish woman who goes around unveiled and wants to see more freedom for women under Islam.
I was not aware of my religion requiring the wearing of the colander. Where does it say that in our scriptures?

Hope that's not much of a strain on him......
sorry
con-pilot 13th Jul 2011, 18:18 Hey, I have two strainers, but I call them colanders. Guess that leaves me out. :(
Wait just a cotton pickin' minute, I do have two wire mesh strainers, but neither one will fit on my head. Guess I'm just screwed then. :{
Where does it say that in our scriptures? You've never heard of the religious colander? ;)
con-pilot 13th Jul 2011, 19:22 You've never heard of the religious colander?
Well, they are holy. :p
Okay, I'll just go away now shall I then?

Two's in 14th Jul 2011, 04:17 "Wearing ridiculous headgear to draw attention to an off-beat cult should not be a laughing matter", said Herr Ratzinger...
Buster Hyman 14th Jul 2011, 04:56 Clearly, he's off his noodle...what a drip...

In the 'Most great and holy revered book of the Flying Spaghetti Monster' Chapter 11, number 16. It's the one underneath the bit about wearing special underpants that the mormons stole from us.

As long as he does not sin...
Ohh!! I love it!!!! :D:D:D
The Catholics get the Trinity; and we Pastafarians get the Trigonometry..... :}:}
Sorry for going off at a bit of a tangent.....
Basil 14th Jul 2011, 09:42 When, as they will, they split into different sects, and it comes to a battle for souls between the Fusilli and Cannelloni I reckon the Fusilli will be screwed and the Cannelloni are definitely stuffed!
Al Fakhem 14th Jul 2011, 11:02 The guy has succeeded in showing just how ridiculous all religious clothing actually is. His justification for wearing a pasta strainer is in principle as strong or weak as that for women wearing head scarves or men wearing turbans.
chuks 14th Jul 2011, 11:37 Are you suggesting that we Pastafarians are making a joke of the mixing of religious belief and secular practice?
Our religion is as deserving of respect as any other and if it mandates wearing a strainer and speaking like a pirate once a year then all I have to say to you, Sir, is Aaarr!
stuckgear 14th Jul 2011, 11:49 His justification for wearing a pasta strainer is in principle as strong or weak as that for women wearing head scarves or men wearing turbans
In Sikhism, Kesh (sometimes Kes) is the practice of allowing one's hair to grow naturally as a symbol of respect for the perfection of God's creation. The practice is one of the Five Ks, the outward symbols ordered by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699 as a means to profess the Sikh faith. The hair is combed twice daily with a Kanga, another of the Five Ks, and tied into a simple knot known as a Joora, or Rishi knot. This knot of hair is usually held in place with the Kanga and covered by a turban.
the outward symbols ordered.....as a means to profess the .... faith. Ditto....... :8
chuks 14th Jul 2011, 12:18 Sikhs are exempt from wearing safety helmets in the UK, I believe. Now is some Pastafarian going to try for an exemption by citing this case, that he should wear his colander?
B Fraser 14th Jul 2011, 12:40 Is this the religion for those who want to be seived ? Well done that man. I think their Christmas is called festivus ..... as it's for the "rest of us".
I reckon the Fusilli will be screwed
And the Ravioli faction can go and get stuffed.
Basil 14th Jul 2011, 12:41 The practice is one of the Five Ks
So does that trump the three Ks?
OK - Hat, coat, door!
Lon More 14th Jul 2011, 12:51 Hey, I have two strainers,
Like this?

A pretty stupid decision by parliament, because being a Sikh and wearing a turban does NOT render your skull indestructible.
I am surprised any insurance company would cover / pay out in the event of head injuries if the rider was without a helmet.
Lon More 14th Jul 2011, 13:10 Sikhs are exempt from wearing safety helmets in the UK, I believe. because of their religion. Dates back to 1960s/70s when the first helmet laws were introduced into the UK. The first case of PC outwitting sensibility?
Solid Rust Twotter 14th Jul 2011, 13:11 Got that nice soft turban to fall on, don't they?
Innit...?:}
