Any news as to when Easterns pilots will head to Perth to start flying the Q400's? And when the Q400's will arrive?

Are you sure that is going to happen?

Which routes?

Yeh pretty sure although nothing is guaranteed in aviation.

My mate in Easterns got an EOI some months ago and according to him, they were due to start ops around August. Considering Network engineers have been over East learing the Q400, and Geraldton ground staff are gearing up for their arrival, it seems pretty certain, no?

Whats to say that Network will operate the Q400's???

Not operate, maintain.

2 frames Aug/Sept. Take that as gospel.

EAA drivers and maintained by Network. Like all the Q400s, on the SSA AOC.

Eastern Pilots flying in Western Aus, operating on a Sunstate AOC, using Network for maintenance, selling tickets via the Qantas Website, and calling its self QLink.
Good Luck with that one tax man.

Not to mention the carbon tax that is going to rape 10% of Australians :{

...and yes it is definitely happening. New ground course starts Monday, 18th July with most, if not all, having been given Perth Q400 bases. Backlog of sim slots so they're all heading to Toronto for training at the end of July.

At least Toronto is warm this time of year, good time to visit Niagra Falls and other attractions.

So Eastern Tech Crew operating Q400s on the Sunstate AOC with Sunstate Cabin Crew and Network LAMEs doing the engineering...If this doesn't prove that CASA is just nothing more than a rubber stamp for the airlines I don't know what does...:ugh:

Fuel-Off :ok:

But arent all these companies owned by QANTAS anyway? In which case what difference does it make what badge they have on their uniforms, the paycheck effectively comes from the same parent company.

Paycheck does not = safety.

If all the procedures are common between all the identities then I guess no big deal, I would be surprised if that were the case.

Both Tech and Cabin crew have identical procedures, and in the case of Tech crew often work together. The only significant difference is that they are on different EBAs and have their own seniority lists.
I can't comment on how the engineering side works.

SEEK - WA Base Operations Officer - QantasLink Job in Perth (http://www.seek.com.au/Job/wa-base-operations-officer-qantaslink/in/perth-perth/20194022)

This role will play an exciting part in setting up the new WA operation, provide administrative support for 40 QantasLink Q400 aircrew who will be based in Perth

So four airframes are headed that way? I heard only two initially.

Fonz121, why do you say four?

10 Capt, 10 FO, and 20 Cabin crew, about right for two aircraft ('aircrew' covers everyone).

Ah right you are. Yeah sorry I read that as flightcrew.

"Qantaslink to bring Sunstate Q400's to Perth operated by Eastern Tech crew and Sunstate flight attendants"

Is that better:}

Okay Geraldton makes sense but where else? The routes are "protected".

Air services (http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/aviation/1346.asp#22693)

Part of the network system put in place by the WA government.
