Microlighting/Ultralight schools in Florida

Hi All

I have a few weeks leave next month and was thinking of spending a week doing a weight-shift microlight rating/licence in Florida. Does anyone know of a good school.

I think you've left it a bit late to do the paperwork even if there is anywhere to go. I doubt you will find any UK training so your best bet is to contact a US school, some are listed here (http://www.usairnet.com/ultralight/school/) The BMAA (http://www.bmaa.org/) is your other option

Thanks for the info, I already have an ATPL and am just looking to learn to microlight, used to do a lot of hangliding. I have to check if the US C1/D visa allows training on it.

I used to do some training at Dunn Regional in Florida on the UK manufacturer's factory demonstrator, but that was before 911. (Did watch a Shuttle launch from the air, though. Wish I was back there on Friday)

There are no UK instructors over there, and to fly in the UK you will need a UK rating (or possibly fly on a JAR SEP or old UK Group A).

I can, of course, offer training in Scotland ;-)

If you want decent training, check out your US instructor - their instructor standards were what would have got you a UK licence (not instructor rating!). Even the FAA's trike manual has some intersting concepts!

If you want to be overseas and English-speaking, check out South Africa and Australia too. And, of course, UK instructors in France, Spain and Portugal.

The BMAA's website gives details of UK instructors overseas.

Thanks for your help XA. Unfortunately Scotland doesn't have the weather guarantee that the States does and since I work outside the UK now I need to have a good run at it. I used to love hangliding just no time these days :(
