Very much enjoying the noise of the GR4s doing what I assume is a CAS Ex around Wittering at the moment - even the one trying to do night flying on the summer solstice ?!
And much lower cloud base today which is forcing them down :ok:.

It has been so ghostly quiet around here in the Witt MATZ....good to have some noise back.

Night flying is dangerous enough without doing it in the dark as well.

Hmm, been very quiet in this part of somerset for many weeks now, but many thanks to the crews of 2 x tornados who rattled over the village of Dunster on tuesday, certainly made many heads look skywards ! Incidently steam loco Tornado is currently on the West Somerset Railway at the mo, 28, 29 & 30th June will be worling 11.10 and the 16.10 Bishops Lydeard to Minehead and the 14.15 and 1745 Minehead to Bishops Lydeard, good opportunity for tornado versus tornado train chasing :) !

Ah yes
Just been on the patio watching 2 GR4s in the late evening blue sky at medium level thrashing around to the South of Cottesmore over Oakham with a fair bit of reheat on by the sounds of it as they went for the clouds
Hope they comeback later when its dark :ok:
Looked like a hawk in the mix at one point as well
Dont get much of that these days:*

Manning the MGR at Witt must be so dull now without all the regular phone calls to complain about the low flying and noisy aeroplanes.

Two into Aldergrove last week, one this afternoon. Hopefully they're off to strafe the Short Strand. And doubtless the folks of Temple-pear-trick will complain to the local rag about the effect of noise on sheep and house prices. Again.

Jet Noise.. Like a Wokka only doesn't last as long.

when the Phantoms were withdrawn from Yeovilton, the local newspaper received several letters of complaint stating that it was too quiet at night!

Staplefordheli:

Don't recall using any reheat.

Laugh of the evening was Captain Speaking informing his passengers of all the usual stuff on their way to Edinburgh and if they needed anything then contact the cabin Staff - all on Guard!:} I nearly missed the basket for laughing. Someone asked for peanuts amongst the subsequent banter.

Had the privilidge of watching a VC10 and a Tri-star in the circuit as I drove through Lechlade on Friday evening. Enjoyed that. - The 'grey' scheme is remarkably effective at disguising the big jets profile even that low.

Well, thanks to the good folk at 655MaPS, thousands enjoyed a close encounter of the Olympus 300 kind (x4) as Vulcan XM655 did a couple of runs along the RW at Wellsesbourne Mountford aerodrome.

BBMF also gave a flypast with the Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Hurricane - excellent! As was the P-51 which gave the characteristic scream during its manoeuvres.

As a fully paid-up overgrown schoolkid, I also sat in the cockpit of Hunter FGA9 XE597 - first time since 1976! Sadly only the cockpit remains, but it's in excellent condition thanks to the 'trade training' donated by a certain RAF unit!
