View Full Version : Nas air questions

Gentleman, A couple of questions that I would appreciate answered. I have been going threw other threads trying to gather some information about NAS. Ive researched other threads and its been good/bad info. Im looking for spacific answers.

For the commuting contract, is your flight home garanteed every 6 weeks to and from your home country?

What is the living conditions like in riyadh and jeddah? Are you on a compound? if so, how are the ammenities?

Are the trips multi-day trips away from base...overnighting in different countries/cities? Or are they just turns? How are the overnite hotels?

What are the crews like? Multi national crews? Americans? Europeans? Asians? Middle Easterners?

I asked about the 3 year contract and was told this is what they want. I am looking for something like 2 years and they replied "its a 3 year contract but no "BOND" was involved.. What does this mean? I have never flown contract work before.

from what Im reading, there seems to be a change in management there and it may be getting better as far as moral. Is this accurate? How do you see the future of Nas playing out.

I was offered to go for an interview in June in Istanbul Turkey, but may not go because $$ is light and I cant but the ticket. It seems like they wont reimburse the expense from what Ive been reading.

I live in the United States now, I am currently a Captain flying the E-175/190. I am ready for a change, its either Nas or Tainjin in China...

any Advice is Extremely apprerciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Rich

Hi Rich, Awnsering your questions,

1. Conmuting is respected and they will provide you the ticket for every trip.
2. Jeddah is better thar Riyadh, less dust, lower temperatures than RUH, but is a bit more expensive, compounds have ammenities as gym, pools, restaurants, etc.., life in Saudi is not bad , I mean forget what you see on movies or news, its just different.:ok:
3.Max sectors per day are 4 , flying here is easy, no that much weather, just sand a and fews CB on season, layovers on the EMB are only in Jeddah if you are Riyahd based or viceversa.
4. Crews, form Americas, Europe, Arabic, Very Friendly and nice to work with.
5. 3 years contrac, is not bad and when ever you want to go just do your notice period and go.
.

Yes managment was changed and they are doing a good job !, meals are back, Money was increased and is good:ok:, they are very interested in improvements in all aspects.

cheers.

Thx FBH.. Good Info. What do the pilots typically do on the compound? Do they share an apartment together or have their own pad? What are the chances of getting JED right away?

there are not question like a database, they will ask you about systems of your aircraft. no more than that.

for the housing they will put you in a Hotel or a House shared ( 2 pilots per house) the place where the houses are , is a bit depresing but you can move asap to a compound,

you can find compounds with all amenities as pool, gym, and rest. you can find them from 1200 ust till 3000 usd depends on the size. one enviroment, one bedroom, 2, 3 . etc...., normally they ask you to pay 6 months in advanced but you can negociate for paying less.

Going to JED , its very possible just aks for the avaliability on the interview.

My opinion,

this is not like dubai, this Ailine is not as organized as Qatar , Ethiad, etc.... but for sure the work enviroment is 10 times better, the salary is the higher in the gulf and I think there is NO Low Cost Airline in the world that pays like NAS does. even to find a Mayor Airline that pays as NAS does, mmmmm hard to find one.
Try to get the 6x3 contract!!!!! Dont get the full time!!!!

And have a lot of patience at the begining cause the first 3 months are borring( training, GACA examinations, IOE) , but once you are released, you can relax and enjoy.

cheers:ok:

FLYBYHAND,

When I visit their site and go to the tab careers, I'm redirected to their general vacationsite. Here I can not find anything. For Captains they have the adverts running via Sigma aviation. Can not find anything concerning the FO's. I'm type rated.

Any help is welcome.....

thnx

Do you know what the sim eval is like?
Does NAS use an Airbus QRH or do they use their own procedures?
Thanks

Hi FBH.

Thanks for the informative posts. Could you also throw some light on the type of schedules and layovers for the A320 fleet.

Appreciated.

Rich,
Last I checked, "threw" is the past tense of throw. The correct wording would be "through":8
I have been going threw other threads

Ok, on to more important things:
I have two friends flying the E-175/190 in China and they love the job, the country and the culture. Both of these chaps were previously in Saudi and left for jobs in China. Saudi is not for everybody, so be careful which contract you decide to take.
Good luck,:E

Sim on my case , was a normal T.O. couple of manouvers, then G.A. with Engine Failure, for final landing.

but that was with the old administration, son I really dont know if thinks have changed.

I think the 320 is being flying using Airbus procedures and QRH.
the roaster on the airbus not quite sure, but for sure the layovers are in India , Jeddah, Riyadh.

as DHC6to8 wrotte , KSA is not for Everyone, I do agree with him, that's why I do recomend going for the 6x3 contract, then if you find the right place to stay ( compound ) and a good fellows, you can have a nice time during your 6 weeks here in KSA.

For me , between China and KSA:

is that they have 6x2 ( that was the last contract that they show to me) so less days to spend , and mores days used for traveling, they don't pay you the ticket till your home, unless your base is on the tiajing routes, wich is my case, and less money.

I am in Istanbul now and I am debating if I should stay for the assesment on the 25th. I called Sigma Aviation and they said NAS doesn't want FOs anymore , even if they are typed in the plane. Can any insider confirm or deny it..
