Sycamore Aviation - 1

I thought a new aircraft part-out / recycling start-up were worthy of their own thread, so here goes.

Sycamore Aviation will be based at Durham Tees Valley Airport (formerly Teesside International) and their first victim is already on site, Boeing 737-500 N249AN, formerly of SkyExpress, Russia, arrived yesterday.

Despite this first aircraft, the airport MD, Mike Morton, told local radio the deal for the company to use the airport had not yet been finalised.

The only information known up to now is the founder is a Kevin O'Hare, a Jet2.com Boeing 757 captain who has also flown for Flyglobespan, Thomas Cook Airlines & Gill Airways. The website is below:

Apologies for reviving such an old thread, but any ideas on what Boeing 737-300 was scrapped by Sycamore Aviation at Tees Valley airport?

They didn't do any -300s, at least not at Teesside. Full list here:

I saw that list but didn’t know how comprehensive it was, seeing as it only lists four 737’s in six years.

My source definitely states 737 300 at Teesside!

I appreciate the responses.

To quote from the Airport Spotting website; “The company has already scrapped three Boeing 737 aircraft which had been retired in Russia – one -300 and two -500 models. The process involves removing usable parts for resale, whilst the fuselage is stripped down. One of the 737-500s is to have its cockpit section sent to an aviation academy.”

So either a dash 300 was scrapped there, or someone has their information wrong!?

Towards the end they had an extensive California operation and they did a couple of contracts on aircraft that were mid way through heavy maintenance when the carriers went bust, in Russia I think. The Teesside list is complete.

They may have scrapped two 733s in Moscow under Sycamore 1. They were on the original website which doesn't exist.
As a note the American operation was at Phoenix Arizona.
