Hi, you should wear business attire.

And, here, in Brazil, we had to bring:

English Resume

2 Passport size face photos – business attire and smiling (ladies must wear make-up and hair tied)

1 or 2 face/full body photos (casual – any type!)

Be yourself, and, Smile!

Hey everyone I just wanted to congratulate all of the new EK cabin crew! I just recieved my GC a few days ago and I am currently in the process of completing my medicals. (I hate needles) My DOJ is 29/1/2012 from JFK and my training starts the 8 FEB, anyone else starting then? Im almost finished with my medicals, I am just waiting for my results from the blood tests (HIV-VDRL HEPB HEMO). Soooo, We have to get a chest xray, up load it, and bring it with us to dubai? My doctor is wierd about giving me the orginial copy. I think i am just going to have the Doctor upload the xray on a CDformat. Is anyone else a little confused as to what we do?

We will be enjoying the Dubai sun sure enough

To the openday, here in portugal, they asked for your CV in english, 1passport size and 1full body photos. To dress...dress something formal, NOT short skirts like some people i saw :/ knee lenght skirt is the best; skin colour stockings; hair tied is better (so they can actually see your face); and use some make-up (not much).. and be sure your nails are ok. All of this if your a girl..of course...lol Good luck

Hey! I read your post about medicals. Im leaving in 10days and I
Got all my medicals approved already. Basically what you need to do is
To go to your doctors, get a copy of the vaccinations you have already,
And have one of the appendix signed by your doctor abour what youve taken
Already. You dont need to get all vaccinations done. You can do this in Dubai but you still need to upload the appendix.

You also need to be cleared with your dentist. You have to get
Everything done with your dentist. Let them read the standards then
Your dentist will know what dental work they still need to do. Also
Have the sheet filled out and upload on the portal.

Coordinators approve your medicals if you submit these things.
You dont need to get blood tests or any other tests done with your doctor.
You can though just to make sure you pass the medical examination
They are going to do with us once we get to Dubai.

Hope this helps!

Hi Alessi this is very strange i have never known them do the medicals over there but maybe they have changed the procedure from now on but hey i guess it will not cost you anything unless they charge you for them to do them i do not know i guess you will find out soon, atleast its a lot less for you to sort out before you go,your date of joining seems very soon too maybe they want you go out a lot quicker and thats why they will do your medicals over there and maybe alot of us have had problems getting reports and things i know i have

At the Open Day, the recruiters said you have to mentionned your dual nationality only if you have a certificate or passport for each nationality

Vanille-Noisette

There is no good or bad points about nationality, there're not really care about it. It's just for paper forms. ;-)
So you can take one or both

17th Dec 2011, 14:48
all the vaccinations WILL be deducted from your salary and are not for free..sorry guys...dont know how much are the medicals but I do know if anything shows up you'll be packing and going home on your own expenses, because they can not hire you if you are not fit by the GCAA standards...so if not sure...do some medicals at home:=). There was one girl in my batch who was almost send home cause they found HEPB in her blood...but on wider spectrum she was clear so was ok...otherwise she would be going home, cause the goverment wont give you the residental visa...

see you all soon in Dubai! We are soooo enjoying it! SUN every day and really nice temperatures!!! But it is very stressful and exhausting! You'll be waking up at 5 a.m. every day!!!

for the tattoo (someone asked): for males can not be seen in regular t-shirt (the ones we get are elbow lenght sleeved, the uniform has only long sleeves), for females no tattoos on arm, becasue the blouse has kind of short sleeves!

I'm getting crazy here in Melbourne waiting for something to happen ! Yeah vanilla noisette I'm feeling ya , I have been checking my email and the emirates site at least every hour ! This waiting game is painful ...

I applied on line and didn't get an invitation . I had my FI on dec 11th in Melbourne (if anyone else was in my FI group pm me ) ... The thing is a few days later they undated my application to under review and invited me to attend an OD in January .... Could this be that I failed ? I'm unsure because after FI you need to wait 1 year .. Or is maybe just that they were a bit behind in updating my application and did that before they got my FI paper work ? The invitation mail came on tue 15th btw ...

Any insight - distraction to waiting much appreciated ! I'm wishing good things to us all xxx

When I gave my company this letter, they say that it is company policy not to fill in this form. Emirates have said they need this, or I cannot start work. Has anyone else had this problem.

my final interview was on the 5th december, in Antwerp, Belgium.
The recruiter asked me during the Open Day if I have any tatoos, and I said NO, and I saw her writing it in my file.

Or it's just because thay are looking at your apllication, and it should be a good sign..

I had my FI December 11. This morning tried to log in on to my account and I couldnt. Suprosingly enough, I didnt get no you 'you will be contacted by..' in red, none of that. It is sort of as if the account never existed. I knew I had the password rite. And I keep gettin wrong username/password.

Tried the option 'forgotten password'. I got a new one, and with the new one I get 'internal error' when trying to access the page.

Anyone know what's the deal here?

Dear all who are already working with the Emirates,

I am so confused about the vaccinations. On the medical forms i have to complete and upload on the candidate portal there are 10 vaccinations: polio, diphteria, tetanus, hepatitis, yellow fever ecc. Do i have to take them all?

I contacted my doctor in Romania to ask her about my vaccination records from my childhood in case i had already done some of the vaccinations and she said she doesn't have the files and most likely nobody has them because they are from 20 years ago.

What do i do at this point? I would hate to lose my dream job because of some shots and beaurocracy.

So please help me, what's the right procedure with the vaccinations?

Thank you so much in advance and Merry Christmas!

the recruiter told me to do as many vaccines as i can in my country and the rest of them in dubai at my own cost.i only had 2 and uploaded the form.the vaccines that we ve done more than 10 years ago should be done again.also my nurse told me that is dangerous to do all of them together at once.so i have to do 2 every 10 days.so by the time of the doj i will complete most of them, complete and sign the form and bring it to dubai.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

My colleague received the GC few days ago, and she asked me about the vaccines.
I told her to ask the recruiter coordinator about this.
She asked him, and told me that the vaccines you can do it in your country, or do it in Dubai, if you do it in Dubai, you will be charged of 20% of the value of the vaccines in your payment.
I can't tell you that I am 100% sure of this information, but, you could ask your recruiter coordinator again about it...
I hope I helped!

Hello guys !

I would like to hear from someome who has been working, have worked or know about Emirates medical requirements for CABIN CREW;

I was thinking about apply to a job as Emirates Cabin crew, however I would like to inform that I have got a deviation of the nasal septum and for that reason from time to time I have got allergic rhinitis crises. We know what the job is and stay maybe 10 or 15 hours breathing air-conditioning is not a good deal for healthy reasons.

My direct question is: Do you know if this condition (deviation of the nasal septum) will not allow me to pass in the medical exams if I am successful in the whole interview process ???

I would like to say thanks for your time and wish a Merry Xmas to all of you !

VuelaVuela,

In my AD, we were given some forms to fill and also a tattoo form/declaration. After that, I guess no one got any tattoo email or anything else about the tattoos.

Didn't your recruiter gave you a paper to sign about the tattoos before? In any case, do you have any tattoo? If not, don't worry.

I am starting to worry a bit. I already asked about it, but maybe some knows something here....

SO guys any of you dealt with this situation before?

No, it's not ok!
You'll really need to go to the dentist!
I guess there's no company in the world that accepts caries.
Here, in Brazil, you wouldn't receive your licence if you have any caries.
Why? That's because you will be in a lot I really mean too much pain, if the Aircraft has a decompression...

On medical declaration form I ve mentioned surgical operation which I had ages ago, which i did not know that would make such a big fuss!!! I provided them a report from my doctor, but still they did not approve my medicals. I am so regret that I mentioned this stupid operation which is easier than any plastic surgery!!!... Will be so devistated if I am rejected cos of this... If I never write it, they d never ever know about this. will they punish me for my honesty?

Cabin crew as a group have shown over the years a higher tendency to cancers, especially breast cancer, so I would think it's not the having had surgery that's their concern, but the fact that since you have already had lumps (benign or not) that you may develop them again. It's all about medical insurance and risk.

Cancer treatments are very expensive for expats now, they are no longer free in the UAE except for nationals.

You did the right thing though, had you not mentioned it, then developed a problem nd it came out later that you didn't report it in the medicals, you would be dismissed without appeal.

mya83
23rd Dec 2011, 13:56
Every woman over 30 have the risk for breast cancer and non-cancerous lumps are very comman among women. And it cannot be said that who had non-cancerous lumps before will have cancer in the future, also who did not have will never get cancer... Breast cancer is 90% genetical, people whose mother or aunt had breast cancer, they are in the most risk , so they should ask female candidates about this...Also, people who smoke are more tend to get cancer and heart diseases, then they should not hire people who smoke...

Guys! I have one question for those who have already applied for the EK for the second time. I already applied for EK in August and I didn't go through the assessment day, actually they didn't accept my CV. I was thinking to re-apply again in February. As I remember recruiter told us that we need to wait 6 months after assessment day or 12 months after final interview if we want to re-apply.
Long story short my last OD was on August 27th but this time EK recruiter team will come to my city on 11th February(5.5 months). What do u think! Should I wait or should I go?

Fafi
24th Dec 2011, 13:05
flyflytravel , 5 moths is more than enough ! This is the rule - OD (cv drop of but no call - 3months wait . , AD (called after cv drop off and made it to group interviews) - 6 months ) FI (Formal interview ) 1 year .

So if you went to the OD and they didtn't accept your cv then you can go !

Good luck !

My advice to you is to go through and search all the tips for OD and AD so that you are extra prepared . Also looking the part really helps - look on the Emirates sight at how the girls look and do your hair and make up just like that (presuming your a girl) If your a man make sure your suit is perfect , your clean shaven with neat hair .

I was a little surprised as I had my OD and AD in one day so I wasnt that prepared . I was there from 830 am - 730 pm ... Now I am just waiting and hoping .

Another thing I would suggest is getting there early and being in the first or 2nd row .... Having been to 2 OD / AD i saw that the majority of people chose were all in the front . Smile , pay attention and ask some smart questions so that they notice you in the growd and know your interested !

Good luck !

Total rubbish. Lots of crew have visible scars, including me. The tattoo form is for identification & medical purposes. Yes tattoos can be a way of wedding people out but there are plenty of jobs which ban visible tattoos. If it's not huge and i na discreet place you shouldn't have an issue. Plenty of info about tattoos in this and past threads. I'd suggest you go read it instead of jumping to conclusions.

Heloo guys,

I would like to know some stuff about Ek.. why they ask you upon filing the online application if u were interviewed by the Ek group before and when? and so they check refernces... also, what is the situation for someone worked at flight operations for only two months and would like to apply for Ek? should i hide it especially that the airline i was working at was a low carrier one and doesn't fly on the same plan rates emirates flying with but i have a flying license and i am afraid they will find out afterwards,?

Please advise as soon as possible...

flyhi29

absolutely u have to shave ur beard before attending any interview with Emirates (or other airlines). They are not looking for handsome guys, but for a nice personality with a groomed appearance.
They don't care if we look better with berad, it's totally not acceptable to attend the OD or AD with a beard on ur face :D u have to impress them, they wanna see how u will look like in uniform. If u get the job, u will have to shave before every flight.

Vanille-Noissette Hi everyone and merry Xmas in advance.
I aslo have a question about surgery.
When I was 18, I also did some surgery cosmetic to reduce my breast (boops) do you think this could be a problem?

thank you
I don't think there is a problem at all with breast reduction, but don't mention it unless they specifically ask for surgeries.
My question now is, what about breast enhancement with implants? Are they a problem?
(I wouldn't think so as they are so common nowadays)

gnusi I wear glasses with dioptry of -0,75 and 0,00. Is that a problem?
You can't wear glasses, but you can wear soft contact lenses. Later on when working for EK you can get a doctor's letter saying that you can't do contacts anymore and they may let you wear glasses... That's what I read here.

CBEG Yes, you can wear a dark gray suit!

mya83
26th Dec 2011, 02:06
Yes,def. they can not figure out unless u say, as long as it is not kind of operation that your organ was removed :)) I have mentioned mine cos it was such an easy job, just 30 mins then go back home.Even some doctors dont consider it as a surgical operation.but i regret now, cause they ve taken it too serious:)) I am not a cancer, I have never been cancer and hope i will never (god knows, no guarentee), but they ve given me the fear of cancer!!! So what i suggest, do not mention anything more than they need, unnecessery details make too much unnecessery headache. maybe they will hire somenone who already had cancer cure and did not mention it, me I ve never had cancer but as i mentioned benign lump left from ages ago, will not get hired. so dont be too honest as long as important health issue :))):=

Read ym post again. I did not say it will lose you the job- I said it can be a concern due to medical insurance coverage,.

Do what you want, tell, don't tell... but if you don't disclose something and you get ill (related or unrelated) later on, and they find you did not give a full history, the insurer is within full rights to cancel/void any medical insurance and you could be liable for any costs.

Sure it can be a pain to provide extra details but in most cases these details are so that EK can provide a waiver for that specific condition as it is pre-existing but cover you for everything else.

Clear now??

Like I said, it's your choice but lying/omitting information is never a good look.

That girl at QR for sure would get fired if they ever found out she lied about having had cancer. It's not really fair to expect the company to cover treatment for something she had before she joined and did not disclose. Different story if she gets sick AFTER joining.

As for comments like "getting cancer is god's will"- please, refrain from such insensitive statements.

As I did (just talking about my own personal experience, don't wan't to generalise). The day before I went to my OD: got myself an appropriate haircut. Make sure you're shaved too.

The OD itself I went in (black suit + brown belt + black shoes). Make sure you have a VERY GOOD looking close up picture in business attire:):):): with nice (white teeth), smile, shaved!

I also put a full length photo (business attire) included with my resume. One more tip: try to profile yourself as being different without being dominant or act like a 'boss'. Be laid back, don't stress out in other words, be yourself: be social! Not too much not too many. It was my first job interview in my life and I succeeded so... . Good luck!

Oh yes one more question. I did all my medical tests and put them online. I got an email 6 Dec that their recruitment officers were investigating it. Medically I'm fully fit though, so normally this won't be a problem.

But now I'm waiting to proceed to step 2 in the application process. Is this normal there are only 30 days left in joining... and I'm waiting 20 days now (re: 6 Dec.)

Can anyyone tell me what kind of clothes should a guy wear to the open day? Does it have to be a suit? At the AD day, if i get invited after the open day, should it be a black suit or can it be any colour?

Hi

I am new here and thanks for all the information regarding open days, AD and FI thats given by here everyone. I will be going to an OD in Germany in February 2012. HAs someone been to an OD recently and can someone tell me what are the group discussion topics being discussed at the OD/AD right now?
Thanks XOXO

the topics seem to be the same in all the countries, and u don't have to worry about the answer because there is no right or wrong answers; for example, they don't care if u give the amount of money for homeless kids or for the red cross. You have to worry about how to share ur opinion with others without interrupting them and the way u express urself.
In the first group discussion, u will have to introduce the person on ur right hand side, and the recruiters will ask u to ask that person questions like: what is the thing he didn't mention in his cv, what was his biggest achievement, the most embarassing moment, where he would like to travel, if he had the opportunity to be invisible what would he do... Here they want to see how you cooperate with a colleague, do u easily get along with them. When its ur turn to speak, stand up with a big smile, look at your colleagues and say; my colleague's name is xxx, he comes from... and then u answer what they told u. Be confident here and relaxed and smile and look at ur friends not the recruiters until they say thank u, u look at them and u smile.
Then they will give u a topic to discuss as a GROUP!! answers doesn't really matter. You should work as a team, u should all give ur opinion, listen to others even if u don't agree, just listen and approve.
when u finish, they will randomly choose 3-4 of you to tell them what is ur decision regarding the topic.
Example of topics: you have a certain amount of money, to which organization would u give, or are u with banning smoking in public or against it, what are the things to improve about tourism in ur country ... etc...

The 2nd group discussion u will have another topic to discuss which is more difficult and u will be less in the group.
Topics can be: ur going to the moon, list 5 main things to take with you, ur on a flight and u had an emergency landing on water, what equipment from the aircraft to take with u, the business class is over booked and u had to downgrade 5 persons, they give u a list of 10 people, who to downgrade to economy, 3 persons that influenced the 21st century...

don't forget to smile all the time, and be friendly and polite, thank the recruiters at all times after they discuss anything with u...
hope this helps!!

flipper316, however there is not an obligation to wear a suit on OD, I d recommend u to wear a suit :)) The first impact is very important, and if u are in a suit, u will look professional and give them the impression that you are serious about this job. Some people come to the OD, as if they just pop in to say hello :))

Hi guys, I am crossing my fingers for all of you who are going to an OD/AD or waiting for the golden call! Although I remember how I anxious and curious I have been a bit over a year ago before I joined (believe me I know how you feel), I am a bit surprised about all the questions here! A) they seem to get repeated every week! Guys, show initiative and read back in the thread, believe me, this thread will answer every question ten times, so there's no need to ask a 11th time, right? Initiative is also a skill you will need to show if you work as a cabin crew! B) why are you asking questions which are already answered by emirates? E.g. What to wear for open days or what kind of picture to bring? If you would read through their e-mails or advertisements you would know the answer (if they ask for a passport size picture, how can you ask if it needs to be a full body picture or only a portrait? Or if they mention to wear business attire, then how can you ask what to wear???). This is the reason why most of the people who made it into EK are not coming to this forum again, they are tired of answering those questions. So those people being absent here leads to answers from people who don't know it from their own experience->assumptions->confusion. Read carefully, that's all you need! How will you be able to pass the tests in training if you don't listen/read? C) why do you panic if something in your application process is different from other peoples application process? They are recruiting worldwide, thousands of people everyday are screened, so the laws and rules for an application process differ and vary in each country and between recruiters/recruitment agencies! If you follow what they tell you, you will be fine. Don't doubt about it!!! And last but not least, please remember how badly you wanted the job when you are working online for a while. I bet 75% of you will winge and complain about the company and will be lazy on board. I am very demotivated at the moment just because of the attitude of many of my fellow colleagues! So, if you need to know ANYTHING about living in Dubai or working for Emirates I will be more than happy to answer your questions. Don't take my post as an offense, I just wanted to point out a few things!:)

You are so so right, I used to be a frequent visitor here but since I nolonger see anything new here, guys repeating themselves like I can't tell how..some even asking if the red alert ' YOU WILL BE CONTACTED.........'is a positive sign..I surely hate that question. It's been asked n answered here a million times. The site/forum is loosing it's meaning/boring with repetitions...instead of focusing on the changes like the medicals...?!Yes I know of some crew here who helped alot but they got so disguised with the kind of queries posted here.....!!!

27th Dec 2011, 17:48
Rimaa, if you think that someone giving constructive advice is "attacking" you, then you are seriously going to have problems in this job.

I was merely pointing out that *IF* someone decides to be dishonest, then they should be fully prepared for the consequences if found out. In English, 'you' is often used in the plural sense, meaning, people who are reading this. Not 'you' as in 'you=Rimaa'

You guys can do what you want, as someone already gone through the process was just trying to help. But as has been pointed out, many crew give up because honestly it's like banging your head on a brick wall trying to get through to people sometimes.

Hello guys!

I've uploaded my pre-employment medicals on 16/12 and I've been waiting for the final approval ever since. Can anyone shed some light on what are they approving?? I've 26 days left on my portal and I'm seriously panicking because I don't know if I should pack or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated! xx

I pretty much agree with what Seja said but I do have have a question with point C .

C) why do you panic if something in your application process is different from other peoples application process? They are recruiting worldwide, thousands of people everyday are screened, so the laws and rules for an application process differ and vary in each country and between recruiters/recruitment agencies!

What about the its different from someone that made it to the F1 in the same day and city as you ?
For example - I have been waiting 3 weeks and heard nothing , but another guy in my groups status changed to AIP and he got the tattoo dec also after a week or so from our FI
Since I have heard nothing and my status is still Under Review , is this for me a bad sign ?....

Good luck to everyone about to go to an OD and congratulations to all who got the GC xx

asafa
27th Dec 2011, 22:50
Fafi maybe the other guy, whose status changed so quick, had something they desperately look for (german speaker, fist aid course...) thats why they picked him out so fast. Its just my theory.
Or maybe the files get mixed up once they arrive in Dubai. Hard to tell.

Hello,

I read Seja's post and I agreed. we all ask the same questions. That's why now I am writing you, because I would like to ask you about what happens after. I mean how is to work for them? how is Dubai? is it a nice place to live? how is the job? extremely long hours? roster's ? maybe you can tell us about your experience and what things we need to consider. Like every other job must have its cons. so personally I would like to hear about your experience, so we can be more prepare and know what to expect.
I would appreciate it if you can tell us more about it.
Thank you.

Well I am working there for a bit over a year now. People either love or hate the job I guess. The turnover rate is massive, means a lot of people don't stay here for a long time (for many reasons: for some it is just kind of a time out year, some are homesick, some don't like the job, some don't like Dubai). For me, I love to live in Dubai. There are plenty of beautiful beaches for swimming, sunbaking, surfing etc. There is plenty to do, heaps of group activities (boot camp for fitness, running groups, Hiking or camping in Oman, arabic courses, cooking classes, gyms). There are nice malls for shopping, cinemas, tons of restaurants and bars for socializing and the nightlife is great to say the least. It can get a bit lonely sometimes because friends might be working when you have days off and the other way round so don't be afraid to do stuff by yourselves! The job is amazing, you are basically paid to travel the world and stay in 5 star hotels all the times :) I always say: the layovers are amazing it is just hard work to get there haha.. Customers are very demanding :ugh: because they expect a lot from Emirates, it can be challenging to work through the night (your body wants to sleep but you have to stay awake and alert), sometimes you get annoyed by fellow colleagues or seniors etc... But if you are good at "shutting down" right after work and forget the unpleasant things the moment you disembark the plane, then the positive things overweigh the negative by far and you will have a good time! Rostering... You will have amazing rosters with nice destinations and you will have horrible turnarounds which seem to be neverending. All a big lottery, every month again and again hehe.. Personnally, I am very, very homesick at the moment (never thought I'd ever be homesick :\ but it happens to the best lol). What else... You have a good life with loads of benefits but they certainly make you working freakin hard for that haha... Did I forget anything? Ah.. In summer it is too hot to spend your spare time anywhere else than IN the pool or INside ;)

I myself I am not yet emirates cabin crew, but my sister has been for almost 2 years now. And as far as turnover rate, then it is all true. Lots of people give up after 1-1,5 year.
The thing is also that depending on someone's origen, the reasons for joining may differ. There is lots of cabin crew coming from poor countries, which often times use the money to support their large famililes and on the other end you have people from rich nations that get this job mainly to travel around and party - often blowing all salary on fancy parties and then using parents/home credit cards to maintain themselves. People who have been there will definately know what I mean.

i'm becoming crazy. Lol and to de-stress i've to do shopping and shopping and shopping... Do you have another solution? lol

:)by the way i've a question, i've read that some of you got a message after the GC telling you that you will be on the A380. Do we have to do something special for that? Already work as a cabin crew or everybody has a chance?

:ok:and thanks seja for sharing your experience, it's a lot appreciated

Seja
29th Dec 2011, 12:07
Absolutely right asafa, many people from poor countries are here for the money to support their families and the ones frim rich countries get drunk and party, couldn't have saud it better! Flipper, you don't need previous experience as a cabin crew, they need people, so they will keep recruiting! Vanille-Noisette, it is by chance whether you are main fleet or A380, but you can always write an e-mail to your coordinator to ask to put you on A380 once you got the GC (I myself have just today finished my conversion training to A380!

And their working hours are from 9-3.30 , with the time difference they close more or less at 12. I guess, there is no possibility to get a call afternoon/evening.
Most probably early in the a.m, when your asleep.

Hello, I have a little problem concerning my medicals, I've sent them 2 weeks ago, but they still don't approve them. The problem is that I had an eye surgery when I was 2 years old, and they asked me the reason of this surgery. I didn't wanted to lie them so that's the reason I didn't hide it.When I was a child I wore glasses and I had hyperopia, but thanks to this surgery I don't wear glasses anymore, I don't even have a scar or other problems, but still I'm worried if they will approve this...So any guesses?

Tereza

Hi seja, do you know what the policy is regarding cosmetic surgeries? There has been a few posts here but still seems little unclear. I have had rhinoplasty and liposuction and am wondering whether this will impact me with my meds? Thanks for help :-)

Seja
30th Dec 2011, 08:15
Hey there, to be honest I don't know! It usually is no problem, I know many girls with breast implants, nosejobs etc in the company. I am sure the lipo-thingy is no problem but I don't know what the other one you've mentionned is? They usually want to know everything about your medical background to cover you for all possible scenarios, and also some things might be a problem of you are flying often (for instance, why they want your teeth x-ray: bad quality tooth surgery for instance may cause a barotrauma in your tooth, which is extremely painful and in extreme cases may make your tooth burst in your mouth-that is a very bad example and happens in one of one billion cases but it still may happen). Hope I didn't confuse you!

givemewings
30th Dec 2011, 08:17
Agree with Seja, the main pros would be:

1. Great chance to travel & see new things
2. Nice aircraft, lots of facilities, good resources for the customers
3. Almost everything provided- house, transport, uniform, cleaning, doctor, so no real worries for bills

Main cons:

1. Schedules can be draining on the body/soul- be sure to take 'time out' when you can
2. Inconsistency between seniors/sometimes managers- what one says do, another says don't. Can be frustrating but I notice this seems to be getting better. Just a hazard of so many cultures working together I guess.
3. And the worst- customers. They can be VERY demanding. Yes they expect a lot as Emirates have a good reputation- butt here are a minority of them that you just CANNOT please. They think they should get First Class service even when they have not paid for it. They will shout at you, they will call you stupid, they will ask for 'complaint form', they sometimes make you go to the lavtory and cry so no one sees you- BUT-

THE NICE ONES WILL MAKE UP FOR THIS!!! In most cases those eman ones would not be pleased with anything you do, so save your energies and worries for the rest, and don't let the mean ones ruin you for the other passengers. They can't help it if the other one is rude to you. So, be nice to them.

You can go home and rage at the mirror all you want after the flight ;)

You will have bad days, but there are plenty more good ones. Just please pelase take advice from the crew who are already there, even if you don't agree with it don't be diffiuclt. Remember that you wanted this job. I have flown with far too many altely with bad bad attitudes, in only their first or second month. I don't want to be around them and I'm sure the passengers don't either. If you are going to be one of these people, don't come. Let someone who wants to be there take your place.

If you are happy to come do the job, then great. Welcome. If you hate it, I'm not saying this in a eman way but after 6 months if it's not for you, then go. Nothing worse than miserable crew. They just make everyone else the same.

In the 6 weeks did you get the tattoo form and see your status change ? Or did they just call out of the blue after 6 weeks ?

I think maybe the reason that you are having trouble is that you haven't uploaded the resignation document , I think I saw some similar situation on this or another forum earlier .

Leave them a voice mail and an email . Try to relax for the next few days anyways .

congratulations to all of us!! Here's a list of tests required:

1- HIV report. (Do not travel IF POSITIVE and do not continue further with the required tests)
2- Haemoglobin Count
3- Hepatitis C (HCV) Test
4- A Detailed Chest X Ray report about heart and lungs.
5- Cervical smear test report (for females only - if applicable). If not applicable - Physician should mark NOT INDICATED in Appendix 2 in front of cervical smear test
6- Dental certificate & X Ray. Doctor should mark Yes or No in front of dentally fit
7- Vaccination certificate with the initial course date
Separate reports needed for each of the above test.

Can someone clear up one thinng, please. They normally ask for blood test for Hepatitis C or B? Or maybe both B and C?

Some people only mention one of the above, its confusing.
