Hey guys i've seen in these threads that a lot of guys wanting to go up North cant find a 206 to build some command time because of insurance reasons. I've found access to one if anyone is interested its $400 an hour wet, great for practicing take offs and landings as most flight schools aren't too keen on newbies misstreating there donks. Its all command time so no need to pay for more dual hours. Its in Victoria if anyones interested let me know. Pickup from local airport can be arranged. And if anyone wants to do some cost sharing and fly to some remote areas im happy
to put in.

Cheers,

You call $400/hour wet cheap! :ugh: I have available a TU206, PA32-300 or even a C210 for $300/hour wet. Plenty of cost share trips also available, PM me for more details before the moderators close this thread down for advertising. :E

Great timing, I've been looking for a C206 for an endorsement and some command time.

What are the prerequisites?

A C206 does not require a separate endorsement (in Australia at least)!!!

Single engine <5700kg :ok:

Endorsement is probably not the best expression, maybe "check flight" or "type rating".

Basically what I need is a log book entry saying I'm OK to fly C206 or C210s.

I usually fly out of YMMB and there are very few C206s around this part of the world for training.

$400 an hour wet is not cheap, but it's not too far out of the ball park. From memory, I was quoted $360 an hour wet for a sky diving C206 that is sometimes available for training.

I guess that rate is Air Switch?

Geez, there's a couple of 55 barons floating around for $410 wet and a Bonanza or two $150 - 180 dry

There's also always ICUS? certainly cheaper then hiring, just have to find an operator who's open to the idea... there is word one not too far from vic

I'm specifically looking for a C206 or C210.

Not keen to pay $400 an hour, but that seems to be what it costs now.

If you can get a descent 210 for around $400/hr or less, grab it.
Taking into consideration the amount of money that I've splashed on the 210 recently, I wouldn't let it out the door for anything less than $500/hr + GST. It's simply not worth the effort to let it go for anything less than that.

I'm with GB on that one. I do my sums on $450/hr for my own c210.

Fuel alone now is close on $130/hr.

'Type Rating' is not the right term either. That is what you get when you get endorsed on a B200 or Metro or something - NOT a C206. So long as you have the right 'design feature endorsement' (like CSU) and you have a current license that is all you need legally - anything else is insurance/owner/operator requirements.

'Check Flight' - that's what you do when you do something like a CIR renewal or check to line flight.

What do they teach you guys these days...?! :E

Basically what I need is a log book entry saying I'm OK to fly C206 or C210s

You already do - those little entries which say "<5700kgs SE" and "Design Feature - Constant Speed Propeller/Retractable Undercarriage.

Show me those and for $1000 I'm happy to write you a log book entry saying you're ok to fly C206 or C210s. I'll even throw in a free copy of the CAOs and a 10 minute lesson on class endorsements. Much cheaper than 4-5 hours @ $400/hr.

Constant Speed Propeller/Retractable Undercarriage.

That would actually be Manual Propeller Pitch Control if we're being picky.

Changed because one of the plastic singles (cirrus, diamond or something) has a single 'power' lever but incorporates a CSU and you don't need a specific design feature to fly those even though they have a constant speed prop.

Yes, but for practical purposes, who would hire me their C206 without some training on the type?

I have NVFR, CSU, ME (mainly Seminoles), Low Level Aeros.

Paying $360 to $400 an hour is financially painful, and not much cheaper than a twin but that seems to be what it costs.

Reading the C206 POH there do seem to be some specific procedures Eg. not opening rear door when flaps are down.

Anyway, I'm keen to put some hours on a C206 or C210.

And get ready for some good bounces :E C206s are a great plane to fly... Just whne you get it wrong you can have some pretty epic bounces.
Seen a lot of that in my current part of the world!

$400 is cheap! Compare that to NZ where I was quoted $530 or something like that. Can fly twins cheaper than that!

My local C210 goes for $320/h...

PyroTek is the 210 available to PPL pilots and what are the conditions: ie can you get it in command or is it all dual???? I wouldn't mind some 210time, for that sort of $ you would be crazy not to. Though most company policies require someone on the RHS with a fair bit of time which is hard to find or you got to pay someone to be in the RHS?
Legally the only way it can be logged as ICUS is if its a Commercial Operation under an AOC or if you have a dispencsation from casa. I'd be carefull about logging ICUS unless its legal. Herd of an operator charging 650 an hour dual for a 206 in SA that was a joke yet people paid cos they had no other option.

So you're looking for 206 experience then?

Cathay, I'm sure it's private hireable after a check flight etc. The dual rate is <400 as well I think. (The $320 is the pvt hire rate - so, command.)

Any update on this?

I've searched high and low for a C206 or C210 for hire in Victoria with no luck. Searching thru Pprune there were a couple of old leads, but none currently have a plane for hire.

I'm looking for an initial sign-off/training and to then hire the plane for a one week holiday up north.

There are quite a few 210's and 206's around Victoria, just most of them are owned by individuals/companies or other operators, all it takes is just a little initiative and you'll get yourself some time.

Aviation is all about networking and seeing you guys are all building command time for your CPL I'd suggest this could be a good start, and the connections you make may be better than any 210 or 206 time in your log book and it's completely free. ;)

Start talking to some people on the field who aren't your instructor or someone you're training with, you never know who you might meet!

WannaBeBiggles is correct. Most 206/210 owners that are not being used up north are with private owners that don't advertise. They are out there and some do hire out or evan let you have a go if they are going somewhere and need some extra $$ for fuel. Just ask around and get of your bums and do some networking. I for one have several 200 series Cessnas and use them nearly daily. I'm not hard to find. ;)
