Had a feeling there was something in OM-A about minimum separation from CB's....
Maybe different for the "Super" men. :}

Only lightning strike I took I was about 5 miles from the nearest Cb in VMC... Don't need to be in it or under it for a strike MW:ok:

I/We was hit by lighting on approach, I bisected two CB's daytime VMC which were about 5-6 nm either side of us. Made me jump out my skin. Hit the rivets in front of the L1 door. I saw the lighting coming straight towards me.

Wonderful headline in yesterday's Daily Mail
"Lightening terror in Heathow jet"
I hate journalists!

I'm hoping A380-800 driver was the F/O. He needs shock treatment:O

Not the first, and certainly not the last one. google YouTube, a few available such as a Qantas, a 747 and a B200 at least.
Wakes you up at times.... 3 myself in 30+ years. No need for severe storms around; but combine frez. level +/- 5000ft and couple of CBs and... the potential is just about there ;)
A bit of a delay before next flight and some extra work for the ground tech... rarely a catastrophy.
