I'm looking at converting my license to and Australian and need to study CPL Air Law, CPL Human Factor, ATP Air Law and ATP Human Factor.

I have looked on the internet and can't find anyone that provides study material. In South Africa we have many companies that write books to study from.

Can any one help?

Bob Tait's Aviation Theory Centre (http://bobtait.com.au/) can help you with the CPL books.

I hear for the ATPL subjects, AFT (http://aft.com.au/) is a good provider. :ok:

Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Important Messages (http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_90083)
Three-part exam consisting of (i) CLWA and (ii) AALW and (iii) AHUF – for overseas aeroplane ATPLSeems you only need to do ATPL HUF, not CPL HUF.

Thanks for the fast reply. I need to only write the 3 and then also IREX but my wife has a CPL and needs to the the HF for CPL. Know if its possible to get it in PDF? Shipping to South Africa might take a while.

AFAIK no commercially avaialble PDFs that I know of. You have to purchase them in hard copy form. Rob Avery's stuff is also very good for ATPL and the IREX theory.

Bob Tait is working on an online course for each of the CPL subjects, but as far as I know he hasn't released any yet. Hard copies of bob's CPL books are the only way at the moment.

OK thanks. What about all the material you have to take with you into the exam?

CAR
CAO Parts 20 to 95.2
CAAP No: 234-1(1)
AIP Book
ERSA
DAPs East and West
All TAC
All ERC Low
AUS PCA

Where can you buy this? What am I looking at paying? Any other options?

Ok thanks. Can I also ask about the materials you have to provide for the exams:

CAR
CAO Parts 20 to 95.2
CAAP No: 234-1(1)
AIP Book
ERSA
DAPs East and West
All TAC
All ERC Low
AUS PCA

How much am I looking to pay for all this? Are there other options?

Expect to pay a least $1000 bucks for all of that stuff. Shipping would be expensive.

Another option would be to buy Jeppesen instead of DAP & AIP but I think that option ends up being more expensive.

You can download and print the CAO's and CAR's and bind them yourself. That's a good $350 worth there. CAAP 234-1 is 1 A4 page, download it :ok:

Thanks guys.

I see AFT is asking for $650 for all of it excl shipping. If I wanted to buy it all separately to take advantage of PyroTeks suggestion then where should I look? I can't find any info on buying the AIP on CASA's site.

Thanks a lot guys. Do you know where I can get the above mentioned supplies? AFT has a package deal for $650 but I can't get the items individually there.

CARs are at Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2010C00414) if you want to download it yourself
CAO's are here: Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Civil Aviation Orders (CAOs) (http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_91044) - you only need parts 20-95 of course.
CAAP 234-1 http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/download/caaps/ops/234_1.pdf

For the ERSA/AIP/TAC/PCA/DAPs and ERC's - I usually buy these from the Airservices Store:
https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/store/default.asp
You can also get the CAO's, CAR's and CAAPs from there if you must.:ok:

Thank for all your help PyroTek.

One last question: Does it make a difference if you get the June/December issue? Will your answers in the exam be wrong if you use the wrong one? Do you also need all the amendments or just the charts?

Below is the list I made. Is anything missing apart from the CAO's, CARs and CAAP (which I will print myself)

Hi Rookie,

I'm a expat staying in NSW - busy slogging my way toward the exams too. Just finished studying for the Human Factors and starting the CPL airlaw. How did you go with getting hold of material?
