It's been one of those days. Tree blown over in the garden, had to sort that out. Unexpectedly high medical bills. Then I saw these pictures and all's right with the world. Thank you.

Did my first solo and PPL on 'GG back in the sixties. Didn't know she was ex- Irish Air Corps
but great to see her now.

GG isn't ex-Irish Air Corps. But that doesn't take from the beautiful job done by all those involved. :ok:

Here is a link to a picture of GG in her former role and some discussion of the pain job

Chipmunk in Irish Colours - Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums (http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=108448)

and, sadly, here is "the original" 169 in her final resting place (note the roundels had been updated to the current 3 colour versions)

Photo of De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk T.20, 169, Irish Air Corps (http://www.irishairpics.com/photo/1002909/M/)

Hopefully we'll see her over here soon.

The owner is Irish and wanted to reflect that in the paint scheme of this chippy! Clive at Vintagefabrics did the work and he has made a fantastic job! It is nice that there is something "Irish" on the circuit! You will not be disappointed when you see her sparkling in the sky!:)

Learnt a lot of basic aerobatics (some intentional some not!) on GG when she was based at Blackpool in the early 70's with ANT.
Good to see her still flying and bringing back a lot of memories.

My Dad's first outing as a trainee navigator with the Air Corps resulted in them returning to Baldonnel in the Chipmunk following road signs....

Just found this pic of me and 'GG taken about 1971/2.

Sorry about the quality; it's a scan of a print from a transparency that was in my wallet for 20 years!
