I gotta say that this skydiving at barwon heads airport is a joke. Again I watched as the skydivers jumped through clould time after time, the only good thing is that my new video camera is getting a great work out. Can anyone advise me on the best place to send the footage to have this hotdog repremaned for his idiot behavor? Australian Parachute Federation I think can’t do much as the operator is not reconized as a ligimite skydiving operation, but maybe CASA can do something as I am certain that TNT 206 would not be IFR rated.. Any help would be great.

Hopefully you can get this moved to DG&P and your query will be answered...

maybe they have approval to jump through cloud... (yes it does exist)

If this operator is conducting drops with out the knowledge / being a member
of the APF, I think you'll find the APF will be very interested in doing something about it.

so you have seen the MR & have evidence the pilot did not maintain VMC?

Well it would not be the first time, late last year I was planned YCAB-YBSU-YHBA when ATC gave me direct YHBA not long after leaving YCAB. Levelled out and then they give me traffic of a VFR aircraft, lets say a piper twin that was very close by and descending through my level.

Now if I had been in VMC at the time my heart rate would have raised a fraction only as I tried to make visual conatct. The person in the RHS that day was from BNE CEN and he was gobsmacked, all we could assume was this guy was bombing through a small hole in the cloud, but I can be pretty sure there were none anywhere near us by the darkness and what we saw as we entered cloud from underneath. The base was 3500-4000 so we had a good look on the way out of YCAB.

I mention no names or places where the aircraft was from to protect the guilty :E but I am sure this goes on from time to time and its not really funny in a busy area like SEQ. So it could well happen at Barwun Heads also. :=

Gday
Flying past the area yesterday early afternoon I can backup Biplane’s post, there was no way the parachutists could have landed on field without passing through cloud from my position. It appears that those people who once condemned the previous lot for their operation, now condone alleged illegal jumping. The conditions for dropping through cloud, unless they have been changed, required the cloud base to be no lower than 1000’above canopy opening height, the cloud base was about 2000’over the field.

You treat the truth very lightly.

"I watched as the skydivers jumped through cloud time after time, the only good thing is that my new video camera is getting a great work out"

They did two drops for the day as the waited until they could operate VMC.

Obviously you have an agenda to discredit the operator and it includes peddling lies.

Well well well, Graham Lee, the CFI at the opposition Geelong airport, you wouldn’t have an axe to grind with Barwon Heads much would you?

Isn’t that the place that SACKED YOU? and if I’m not mistaken you’re the person that worked for McWilliam and dropped dirt darts thru cloud?

You’re also the pilot that displays great airmanship by NOT giving radio calls when overflying YBRS.

Ferret the list goes on and if you wish I can elaborate.

Didn’t anyone tell you, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones?
