Today there are three Naval Air Squadrons....Sea King Mk 4’s from 845 and 846 Naval Air Squadrons (NAS)... Sea King Mk 7 Airborne Surveillance and Control helicopter (SKASaC) from 854 Naval Air Squadron... and the Lynx Mk 9A of 847 Naval Air Squadron is constantly active in the Escort and Surveillance roles.


845+846+847+854 sounds more like 4 Naval Air Squadrons to me

When I had a tour of the new super destroyer HMS Daring I was hugely disappointed not to find a Bose Sound Dock (or Pusser's equivalent) in every bunk space. Apparently the Admiral responsible for the iPod thing was referring to the fact that everyone now has their own plug socket(s). On some previous ships a mess deck for 40ish sailors has had only 2 230v sockets between them, leading to *some* electrical overload when connected to 40x4 gang extension leads.

Leon - love the sailors with RN iPods though, that's classic. Is the moving map on the Chinook any good? How big's the screen? (seriously).
