hi all
does anyone know more about the kind of routes this ADF contract will consist of. the recently advertised A340 positions are with them.

Probably a fair bit would be to the UAE where there is an Australian logistics and other stuff base.

I would imagine troops and equipment etc stage out of the UAE when depolying to/returning from places like Afghanistan etc. A340 into/out of the UAE, C130/C17 to/from the operational theatres?

Hope that helps.

thanks turkeys....
that sounds reasonable but can a 340 do darwin to uae in one hop? looks a hell of a long way! do you think you would stay in darwin on days off or be able to get to home base if commuting?

Dunno how long the runway at Darwin is, but if its any longer than 9000ft or so..the A340 would have no trouble getting to the UAE, its under 5000nm on the GC route:ok:

3300M+. 340s have operated in and out of here quite a bit before.
Geez, it's long enough for B52s to get out fully tanked up.
Could handle a 380 without any stretch.

as well as the Space Shuttle.

listed as an emergency landing site. probably can't handle an STS departure

Hi Guys,

Would anyone be able to elaborate on the working conditions?

How many days of the 20 ON/10 OFF do you stay in Dubai and Darwin?

What are the standard of the hotels?

General work environment.

If you prefer to PM, that would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a mate flying the troop run on the 330 with Strategic. One of the reason's he left was the high numbers of days spent in Darwin on downtime waiting for the jet to come back. I'm sure the 340 operation would be similiar.
