Does anyone have any information about Majestic Air (6M) apparently starting service early July between Harare and Johannesburg using 747-300's and Tri-star's.

According to schedules, the Harare - Jo'burg nonstop on a Saturday 747-300 takes 2 hours 35 minutes (we all know there are fuel shortages in Zimbabwe but that's ridiculous!) against normal flying time on that sector of about 1hr 45.

Never heard of them?? Sure its not a 748 with that sector time. It would be a brave investor to put put money into Zimbabwe - unless it is a scam to rip some doo good organization off.

Given the history of the company - and those involved with it - I don't see this ever happening. Apparently, they have done a deal with Hewa Bora of the DRC to use their L1011-250 but is there really B747-300/L1011 loads worth of pax between the RSA and Zim??

I don't think so!!

Given the his-story of The Guvnor, how can he say anything can never happen?

The 747-300 has been overhauled and left Singapore a few weeks ago.

I think Mooney's comment is telling :
The 747-300 has been overhauled and left Singapore a few weeks ago. If it takes 2:35 to fly HRE - JNB I suppose we can expect it to take a few weeks to get to Southern Africa from Singapore!
And yes, some do good organisation is doubtless being ripped off whilst a rich African gets richer and fatter. (Remember African Star Airways!)
