Anyone else noted the absence of Steve Creedy written articles in the Australian over the past week? I am hoping my letters to the editor have had some effect and he is on permanent leave. :E

Dear Steve,
I'm not sure if you have noticed, but on various Web sites, like
"Aviation Advertiser" and etc.,there are issues of a serious nature for Aviation in Oz

In reading Friday "Australian" over the years for the Aviation pages, I see a distinct lack of subjects dealing deeply with any of these issues.

Would it be possible for you or anyone else in "The Australian" to do some serious investigative research into, say CASA, which has internal problems
and a regulatory regime causing great harm to a vital Australian industry.

Even just a shallow dig into CASA will yield material to fill your pages for years to come.

Was looking for an email address for Steve Creedy when I came across this thread. I have never been as appalled by the Aviation pages as I was last Friday. I am in the midst of grappling with the Part 61 changes at work, trying to take advice from CASA FOIs who know less about the changes than I do, still awaiting the results of the Part 61 MOS DP, let alone the MOS itself, infomed today that the Examiner's Handbook will not be published in time for the December 4 roll out, and Steve publishes, almost verbatim, John McCormick's "smile and wave boys, she'll be right" article from the latest CASA newsletter. Steve... please speak to anyone else in CASA, or anyone in industry, to find out what is really going on with the catastrophe that is Part 61. And then write about it from an informed perspective.

Almost all of the pap described as ‘news’ in the Western world is publicity.

Mr Creedy was very good at regurgitating the pap he was fed. He therefore did what his employer needed him to do: Rendered himself redundant. :ok:

I am still waiting for a phone call back from Steve, when I called him in July this year to ask him why the australian was carrying advertisements from casa.

I cannot see how the australian can give a good article with no bias involving the aviation industry when an advertisement is taken from casa and placed against the main "editorial" article.

Maybe someone can explain that to me??

Perhaps Clive Palmer is right, when he questioned the ethics of the australian in the press club address today.

Phelan and Sandilands report real facts by way of real research, real analysis of the evidence, then have their information tied off with accurate presentations in their patch of the media. And they don't command top salaries like Creedy and Geoffery 'John' Thomas. I would rather read endless hours of the screaming Skulls silly Fort Fumble updates than even remotely browse over a John Thomas article.

Not to be outdone, casa has a four column advertisement and the Regulatory Review a small height two column advert calling for submissions.

Well is casa trying to tell the world it is bigger and better or is this just another case of deliberate and misleading use of advertising space in a major national paper??

I discovered Mr Creedy's lack of aviation credibility about 4 or 5 years ago when he reported on an accident which involved a RAAF helicopter pilot. A decent aviation journalist would know the RAAF no longer operates rotary. And a really good one will tell you the RAAF lost the last Iroquois in 1989. But that's what Mr Credible reported.
