On 3rd January 2012, we will launch daily services to two major cities in South America - Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city in Brazil, and Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. We will serve the route Dubai-Rio de Janeiro-Buenos Aires - a direct service to Rio and an extension to Buenos Aires.

Rio will become our second destination in Brazil after Sao Paulo, which joined our network in 2007.

Our Service

The route will be served by our Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration - eight First Class Private Suites, 42 lie-flat seats in Business and 304 seats in Economy.

EK 247 will depart Dubai at 07:05hrs, arrive at Rio's Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport at 15:35hrs; depart Rio at 17:20hrs and arrive at Buenos Aires' Ministro Pistarini International Airport at 19:30hrs.

EK 248 will depart Buenos Aires at 21:30hrs, arrive in Rio at 01:20hrs the next day and depart Rio at 02:55hrs, arriving in Dubai at 22:35hrs. All times are local.

Rio de Janeiro

Rio is renowned for the Sugar Loaf Mountain, its beaches, samba dancing and the annual carnival, which attracts half a million visitors a year. With a population of 11.8 million, Rio is the country's nerve centre for the energy sector. Rio will host the final match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympics, enabling us to connect global sports fans to the city during these events. Our cargo on the route will include automobile parts, accessories, manufactured goods, fruit and vegetables, machinery, chemicals and pharmaceutical products.

Buenos Aires

Popularly known as the 'Paris of South America', the city is famous for its tango dancers, architecture, a lively café culture, museums, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants. Buenos Aires has a population of 13 million and is the financial, industrial, commercial and cultural centre of Argentina. Our cargo products will include perishables, textiles and pharmaceutical products.

Although our inaugural flight is nearly nine months away, I urge you to incorporate the two destinations in your planning process, be familiar with the opportunities and challenges, and make all preparations necessary for a successful launch.

hi,

do you know how the layovers are going to be?
24 hrs, shuttle, 24 hrs?

LE: it could also be 24hrs, 24hrs, 24hrs.

Not knowing but it looks like the shuttle to BA and back is about 9 hours worth of duty time. So I would say no layover in BA.

You've got to remember that the flight from DXB to Rio is augmenting, so who will fly the BA sector?

With the hours the 777 Captains are being rostered..a better question might be "Who is going to fly this?"

Surely there will be 777 Captains to fly the route......unless you meant it as a pun of some sort or am l missing something. There's always pilots in EK to fly even if they are overworked/fatugued at this moment in time. By then there will be more online from fleet transfer, upgrades, DEC's (if need be).....the "show must go on":O

Well Dustyprops or is it Dusti-rod?. Clearly you've never been in either city in your life. If you'd so, you'd be jumping out of joy since you'll be exposed to perhaps the hottest female bodies in the world (Both Brazilians and Argentinians), the most famous beaches (Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblond) as well as that you will have the provilege of enjoying the best beef in the world for let's say, 10 bucks at La Caballeriza in Puerto Madero!!!!.

Yeah, I think it is better for you to stay flying to Asia and fancy India and let the humble ones to fly this new routes.:E:E:E

Well.......Ben Al Katre........I guess you have not been at EK long enough to realize what this flight and any new ones means to most of us:eek:........more new flight means more work.......and of course this company never has enough pilots so it will mean they will try to squeeze one of these flights on our schedules:suspect:......so I guess you need to be able to understand that most of us just simply DO NOT care about the $10 beef, the beaches, or the bodies.......we just simply want to stay alive with our crappy rosters::*.........do our time at this place.....and go to our REAL HOME........

Some EK pilots need to grow a few chest hairs ! We are going to Rio, PERIOD, with or without some of the drama queens. The Sheikh, didn't bring people to Dubai to catch a tan or enjoy EPC discounts, FACT ! So yuh, most probably whilst we are here, we will work. You can choose to complain that we work too hard and we going to Rio or work and try to enjoy yourself with the EPC discounts, tanning, "rattling snakes":E

For those of you not going "home" to Michigan or any other REAL homes, we'll go eat 10 dollar steaks in Rio and make the best of the situation.......wonder when we gonna fly to Jamaica and sniff some weed

You'll operate direct to Rio, then because you slept most of the way, you can continue onto Boners Aires - as long as certain very strict conditions are met:

Fack,

I'd be prepared to lay money that won't be the case. If it was, why aren't we doing DXB-SYD-AKL or DBX-MEL-CHR?

It'll be done like those trips- one crew augmenting both ways and doing the Buenos Aires shutlle, the other getting 48hrs off and operating both ways.

Yeah Ben I can't wait!!! All the stuff to see and do in Rio on my 5 day layover.......oh wait no. Anyhow, at least i'll be able to check out the hot girls in Argentina you talk about.......on the TURN AROUND!

Like I said, happy for the indigenous to be able to get home.

Gimme Europe though, piece of cake!

Jesus christ wiz, you really need to get out more and develop a sense of humor/irony/facetiousness.

"Sar-chasm" - the gulf between the person who made the snide comment and the person who didn't get it.

Sorry, Fac, guess I fell victim to Poes law- Thing is, people come on here and make far more outrageus claims than you did, but actually mean it!!

Stick a smilie on your post if you are only joking, cause it is REALLY hard for dummies like me to tell the difference sometimes!!
