XIII SQN FAREWELL



As a result of last years’ SDSR announcements XIII Sqn is to close. The formal laying up of the Sqn Standard will take place at RAF Cranwell on 1 Jun 11 after which XIII Sqn will cease to exist.

To commemorate this occasion a programme of events is scheduled that will allow current and ex-XIII Sqn personnel to celebrate their association and affection for this remarkable sqn and the ethos and camaraderie that has come to surround it.

Despite the short notice, we hope that many will take this last opportunity to celebrate their time on XIII Sqn. If you are interested in attending any of the events then please get in touch with XIII Sqn using the email address below. This email will also be used to disseminate more information as the events draw nearer. Please respond no later than 22 Apr 11 in order to allow the event organizers to gauge attendance levels and cater accordingly.

XIII Squadron will fly her last flight on 6 May 11 and will celebrate a distinguished 96-year service with a proper bash at the SE HAS site at RAF Marham. Attendance will be open to all present and former serving XIII Squadron members and up to one guest. Former members who wish to attend will need to send an email with the following information to [email protected] :

Fine _ i haven't had an email - only the details above which don't include times but imply an evening as B&B is mentioned! Please could you post the timings here?

As we head at full steam towards our disbandment, things are starting to shape up. All of you who have sent your details to [email protected] will have had a response by now and should be fully in the picture as to what is happening.

For those of you yet to respond to the email address, please do so sooner rather than later to avoid dissapointment. The HAS party is already starting to fill up and with limited numbers we would hate for you to miss out on an opportunity to see such a great sqn off in the style that it deserves. As you might imagine, there is a small charge to cover the entertainments so stand by your chequebooks!

The party is an evening event until late and there are plenty of entertainments booked along with the usual food and bar set-up. Transport will be laid on from the Station Main Car Park to the party and back again to allow everyone to have a good time without worrying about having to drive.
