The "chosen ones" get their own compound .......... you have to laugh at the professional reporting that goes on in the UAE.

Meydan to host Emirates pilots

United Arab Emirates: 7 hours, 40 minutes ago

Meydan has signed an agreement with Emirates Airline to build a new gated community for the airline's A380s pilots, Gulf News has reported. The project involves the construction of 528 townhouses with room for more properties to be added. These properties and associated areas and facilities such as a clubhouse and commercial centre will occupy 2.94 million sq ft of Meydan Heights, a low-rise mixed-use component within the wider Meydan City.

When you get to suffix-ize your callsign with the cock-twitchingly-powerful, "SUPER" - you deserve nothing less.

My little aeroplane quivers in moist anticipation whenever that extremely manly, "SUPER" reverberates on the airwaves.

Have heard that it is an instant cure for ingrown-penis syndrome, but that might be hearsay??

I think this newspaper's just pulling a few legs...it won't be true!

Hey boys ease up on the Big Guys. They deserve this as they spend more time here in the sand with all the returns to the gate.
Ya gotta have someplace nice to go to when putting in a 10 minute taxi!

And it's going to be built on a $120m loan from an Indian bank. (Source (http://gulfnews.com/business/general/india-s-idbi-bank-meydan-in-120-million-loan-deal-1.780803))

Love that SUPER suffix. Never used to say HEAVY on 345 even though is heavier than 77W and almost same 744.
Also the voices drop an octave to sound more manly don't you think?
And I heard it's compulsory to wear long sleeve shirts.

Ha ha ha ha

The "Super" suffix prevents light twins from doing barrel rolls:eek: on short finals if you are vectored too close the us.

If you removed two engines from your A345, it would weigh the same as a B77W.

Shame it wouldn't be able to fly though......

Big compound to fit in all the big egos?

Not a bad idea. The DEWA cap can then be reduced to 15000 there, to compensate for the fuel guzzling on the flying pig.

gulfnews : Meydan City set to host Emirates gated community in three years (http://gulfnews.com/business/property/uae/meydan-city-set-to-host-emirates-gated-community-in-three-years-1.780172)

The article doesn't say just for the Super guys.

I'm guessing they mentioned 380 because there are so many coming and that, in fact, they will slot pilots in as they are hired regardless of type.

This is one thing that EK does right, in my opinion. DSO is a great place to live and is well maintained. The stability that it provides for a family (ie. not being moved every few years as has happened with some in other areas) is important. It's safe, a proper 'neighborhood' where kids can play etc etc etc.

If EK really wanted to make an impact they would set up a system where, if you opted in, you would own your villa after 15 years. They gain because the housing allowance they currently pay is their only expense (you would cover DEWA etc) and it would certainly keep more pilots in Dubai. You would gain by ownership.

Come on guys; some of you took this story literally????????? LOL. You guys need to get out more and away from Pprune.

Of course there will be no "A380" only compound ............ after all, there would be too much jealousy from the other mini-Boeing and mini-Airbus pilots as us A380 jocks sit back in our mansions with our model-wives, our Tom Cruise good looks, our extensive garage of exclusive cars, our exploding bank accounts and our 20 days off every month.

We need to share our presence with the masses.

LOL.

Apparently they`ve approved a floor plan where the bedrooms are at the opposite end of the house from the living room, you walk down a long corridor past a kitchen and near a noisey a/c system. Wonder where they got that idea?

Just don't put pampas grass in the garden or drop your keys. Someone will think you're looking for some variety :}

The A380 guys are no different than the rest of us, other than the fact that they have a somewhat higher proportion of idiots

You're at it again young fellah:ugh: First of all you say all 330/340 pilots are spineless (remember that post you started?) and now you say that lots of 380 guys are idiots!

You must be a joy to know:{:{

Its all true. The new 380 list will be determined by PPC datum and willingness to move. All cars in the new compound will be fitted with brake to driveway, however no SAAAR arrivals to residences will be tolerated. Seems these arrivals have caused some confusion in the C section of DSO, with occupants arriving at the wrong house as pampas grass seems to confuse the nav system ...that could be awkward! All showers in the new villas will be limited to two occupants at one time, and communal bars will be fitted near the kitchen.

Finally good news for the junior fleet.

This is the biggest bull**** Emirates could come out with. The fact that some of you guys, who fly the '380 are somehow better than the rest of 777/330/340 pilots.

In my humble opinion, this is just for advertising, somehow Emirates try to underline how many pilots are going to fly their super jumbos, and probably get another deluded pilot to join them. It would be extremely stupid of their side to actually make a compund for '380 pilots only. That way, 777/330/340 pilots should get their own compounds, which will cost Emirates billions of dirhams.

guys, please don't be stupid because you will loose the rest of your credibility, even management reads pprune.

THERE WILL BE NO COMPOUND FOR 380 DRIVERS IT'S BS

the 380 is just another plane, not even nice to operate and with ****ty bunks, dont be intimidated by its size, the 340 and 777 are also big

On top of that, apparently they are getting their own fleet of cars for transport to/from work. The Audis will be left with the main fleet and they are getting new BMWs in a deal with Meydan and the autodrome.

Being in a 380 compound would be a lot of fun. It'd be cheap to buy but a month later you'd have the "handyman" coming by every week (at cost) to fix wall cracks, faulty plumbing, leaky roof, appliances not working, etc...

You get up in the morning and it takes an hour and a half to fire up the kitchen and get breakfast ready. Pick up a book to read and it's written in French - or badly translated English. Switch on a light and a wiring loom in the garage bursts into flames. Go to the front door to leave for work and the lock won't let you open it. Later, you try to sleep on the world's thinnest, cheapest mattress, placed conveniently in the living room, and be kept awake by some kid kicking a wall in the neighbour's house down the road.

Actually, that sounds like most of the villas... hey, we're ALL living in crappy airbus villas already!

At least the Supers will have a filipina maid to clean the toilet every time they use it - then go straight to make their lunch without washing her hands in between!

Oh, for Pete's sake, you really can't tell when you are reading something the press got wrong?

Emirates said it needed a new compound because of all the pilots it will need, due to new aircraft such as the A380-

Stupid reporter hears- compound for A380 pilots.

Gullible, whinge-at-anything pilot believes it!!!

You obviously misinterpreted what I had in mind. All I'm saying is, that Emirates is whether trying to make a pathetic advertisment or like you said the medias got it wrong.

The 380 pilots are no more pilots than the rest, so it's all bs whether wrong or right.

Are the new villas being built directly underneath the high tension power lines or will they be right beside them? A little bit of leukemia won't hurt you!

All those who point to the media getting it wrong are probably right - shocking, I know, but still . . .

Another example of the media getting it wrong is the recent story that broke about the QF A330 being flown over MTOW - ninemsn in Australia initially reported the aircraft as being an A380:

Qantas overloaded A330 plane: investigators (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8227501/qantas-overloaded-a380-plane-investigators)

The story was later corrected from the A380 to the A330, but the URL remains the same.

Seems that, to the media, every airliner is a 380, just as every GA aircraft seems to be a Piper Cub . . .
