Hello to all,
I am looking at doing a Baron and Chieftain endorsement. I have had a look at Archerfield and found FlightOne. Just as a backup though, in case they can't get it done, I am looking for other places somewhere between Coffs Harbour and Hervey Bay who could give me a Baron and Chieftain Endorsement.
I have searched the PPRUNE pages for similar posts but many are quite old and talk about Hempels and other places which don't exist anymore or don't own these aircraft anymore.
Any hints will help.
Thank you

A few miles further south than Coffs Harbour and Johnston Aviation at Port Macquarie will do both for you. Check their web site.

I did a baron endorsement with Flight One shortly after they first opened. It was a very good endorsement. Went through the engineering paper with a fine tooth comb and really gave me a good understanding of the aircraft. The only con was that they were quite expensive. PM me if you want more details.

Country Capital at Tamworth also does the PA31 - can't vouch for them.

Can vouch for Johnstons though - great outfit.

At YBAF I think RQAC also does Be58 endorsements.

I can also recommend JAS, great bunch of people!

If you have anyone to stay with in Melbourne, check out Lilydale Flying School
Lilydale Airport (http://lilydaleairport.com.au/), they have a baron and a travelair (cheaper and same endo I believe) as well as a pretty cheap Navajo.

Food for thought :ok:

I did mine up with Queensland Air Services up in Caloundra, using the skydivers PA31.
Very good endo with a lot of time spent going through the questionnaire.

Also only cost $1500. Which iwas pleased with!

Hey guys,
thanks for all the hints. I think I have found what I was looking for. I have talked to Johnston Aviation Services and they said that their aircraft are not available for endorsements these days because they are too busy.
Also the Aero Club at Archerfield doesn't own the baron anymore. Caloundra, Flight One, Lylidale in Melbourne are the places so far to go? Have to check out Tamworth.
Thanks again.

I think you might be able to do a Baron endo at Redcliffe Aero Club.
There is a Baron there anyway.

However I would still ring QAS at Caloundra and see if they can do a Baron endo also.

Since when do they have a baron? Haven't seen anything on the website about that.

I also didn't think that the Aero Club at Redcliffe had one!?! I know they've got access to a C310 and have a Partenavia and a Seminole.

There is just a Baron sitting outside on the other side of the apron to RAC.

Yeah as pyro said, there is always one there and it moves occasionally. Having never trained at RAC I wouldn't known but I'm sure that someone who answers a phone there would know.

I think it just lives there.
Fairly sure RAC don't operate it

I can't imagine Roger letting anyone do an endo in his beloved Navajo;)

Fair enough. That's a shame. Well apart from that the only BE endos I know of are down in Port Macquarie I am fairly certain.

But I am probably wrong

Both OYM and LGX (Chieftain) have dual rates next to them?

The YRED baron next to the bowser is privately owned and not online anywhere.

Airspeed Aviation in Scone can do both, with a little notice to make sure the respective aircraft aren't out working.

Country Capital can do Chieftain and C310, but they are a bit unsteady in the Chief Pilot department at the moment.

YMMB again though..

do you want to learn everything that will keep you a live in either of thesetypes, but it will cost you. I can highly recommend a guy in victoria who will provide you all the stuff that will impress your next employer when he starts asking questions about fuel systems, the copmlicated microswitch undercarraige set up, etc......on a PA31. If you are interested get back to me and I will pass on his details. He only works part time doing said endorsements now but what you will walk away with is gold

Airspeed Aviation. Seconded. CFI/CP has bucketloads of experience on both types and it will be a thorough endorsement and you will learn heaps and have heaps of fun.

If you're very keen on getting yourself endorsed, it doesn't hurt to call them back from time to time ;)
