I was flying on AR1 and trying to pick up DIW 198 the other day and a dim memory flashed by...

I recall that in the nav classes a few years back there were a couple of questions regarding NDB ranges. Anybody knows the formular or relation between NDB power (in watts) and their range?

Hello

NDB transmission power , the range is proportional to the square of the power output , to double range x4 the transmitter output.. .over water 3 x square route of wattage . .over land 2 x square route of wattage.

I'm having to think back a good while since I learned this one, but I seem to remember the protected range of most NDBs is 25nm. That particular beacon might even be listed in the appropriate AIP publication.
