Never got too fly in the Airbus A300, but had a look inside one at the 1985 Mangalore Airshow(TAA were sponsers of the airshow).

Was it the right aeroplane for TAA at the time or was it purchased to be seen to be doing something different to Ansett?

How did the two types compare in service?

Can't comment on the suitability for TAA, but having flown and instructed on the A-300 (B4) I found it a nice aircraft to fly. A basic aircraft - not fly by wire - but at the time fitted with the state of the art F.D. and avionics.

The display by the Airbus at Mangalore that year was pretty impressive, all at low level. Would have been a few hours practice in the sim!
