Long time reader, first-time new-thread-poster. Be kind.

Iraq - much-depleted air force after GW1.
Afghanistan - Taliban not quite in the 'air force Blue Square Premier league'.
Libya - mix of seventies technology Soviet & Mirage F1 (if any flyable ones left).

Blimey, even I'd be able to mount a 24hr no-fly-zone in my beat-up old Hilux.

Now then. What if time...

... Saudi's want exactly what the Tunisians, Libyans, Omanis, Egyptians etc want.
... Saudi does exactly what Col Gaddafi allegedley did and order bombings etc.

Can't see Cameron being so chirpy about NFZs then.

Saudi Arabia - generous mix of Western fighters/ bombers (and if I remember correctly the world's last air-to-air combat victory?). Plus well-trained pilots etc.

rich2010,

If all of the UK and US support to Saudi Air Force assets were withdrawn, where would they be then?

Plus well-trained pilots

Steady on there chap ! Don't confuse UK/USA/AUS Instructors with the output of well trained pilots (and on that note, I'll leave that subject just outside of reach of a 10 foot bargepole.......)
