Still open house? Might be easy but interesting architecture nonetheless...

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc452/pprunefoto/Photo442.jpg

Just to move this along a bit, the architecture is inspired by the Himilayas, but the location is far away. Here are a couple more hints. The palm trees may help find the location, and there are unseen mountains in the background. Every building, and there are many, has the same, distinct architecture.

Correct, Sabredog.

UT El Paso (UTEP) architecture was the inspiration of the wife of the first dean of the old Texas School of Mines. Around 1917 she saw a National Geographic article about Bhutan, and convinced her husband to design the campus in the Bhutanese style.

Today the campus is a beautiful testament to that vision. The first Bhutanese students to study in the US came to El Paso, and today UTEP remains the most popular campus for students from Bhutan.

OAK is correct for the second pix, the other is slightly south.

I think the phrase "Do you see a large tank?" was used sometimes.

Once, I was cleared to land at an OAK general aviation runway by flying from the southwest over the SF Bay and the main runway. Spooky to be the only one in that airspace.

sisemen
25th Sep 2011, 04:21
Once did a delivery to Romsey Airfield in Victoria, Australia and elected to land on Rwy 33. Unfortunately, local knowledge had it that the only permissible landing direction on that strip was Rwy 15 because of the presence of the Australian Army Proving Ground at Monagetta tracks of which were within 300 metres of the threshold (ERSA didn't - and still doesn't - mention that fact).

So, the question "Can you see a large tank" was quite apposite - a feckin great Leopard tank with a plume of dust behind it and an equally feckin great gun pointed straight at me!

Yes, Mr. Miles. Those are the 5 Flatirons in Boulder Mountain Park, Boulder, Colorado.

I, too, wonder what the explorers and then settlers thought when they saw the Rockies looming up. By 1850 or so, when my great grandfather went to California, they knew of an easier route though southern Wyoming. I have the binoculars which he is said to have carried on that trip.

The woman's name is NOT Susan. The bus probably goes to the depot in downtown Boulder. The picture was taken in early 1959. The street in the foreground is Baseline Rd ... exactly 40 degrees north latitude.

No way would I have guessed the precise geographic location (without researching Giggle for a building that was repeated at many similar locations.

RegDep I don't know where it is. Aside from a wide swath down Mexico, Central America, and points south, try anyplace that an excursion from a cruise ship going through the Suez Canal is likely to visit or could reach.

It does not look like Egypt, Italy, or Greece, especially with the buddha(ish) figure. Turkey and India are possible, maybe (doubtful), but I've never been there so don't know.

Asia is what it says to me, so maybe a bus or short plane hop from a cruise destination is where to look.

Since I do not know where it is, it is not a challenge so the thread can go on.

Indeed Gordy. You won't be "sleepless" after all. I'm from California and accustomed to earthquakes. Just the looks of this one scared me. Over to you sir.

One of my present neighbors was superintendent of the Gateway Arch National Whatever for a couple of years. Interesting fellow.

Nope, not sleepless yet...Not sure as I would want to go in that building.

This should be relatively easy:

Dang it. Had it and then got distracted. Supposed to be cleaning the garage.

Just gotta figure out where.

Hate when that happens...especially if I have been there before.

I found that shot on some guy's blog when typing in Grain Silo Budweiser. That's the only picture that was like yours and the blog only has the one page that I can access. It's in there somewhere. :ugh:

OK, found something . Off the I-15, just outside Idaho Falls, of course that's buried on someones Flicker Account that's 750 pages.

OK, Confirmed. I-15, outside Idaho Falls.

And that will be it for me. Gotta get this garage done. Open House, pending Gordy's affirmation,
