It is on the way from Pune to Lavasa - an artificial city (houses and appartments will be sold to people that would like to use them for vacations only). There is only one dead end road to Lavasa through a hilly area. I got a bit sick by the way the driver drove through that area. :)

That's a B.A.S.E. jumper doing his or her stuff from Menara KL, the Kuala Lumpur Tower, Malaysia.

I went out to my residence swimming pool one Sunday morning to find about 50 people looking skywards, a few moments later one of these intrepid birdmen jumped off the tower and landed dead centre in the pool.

I watched his face as he approached, it was grey as he concentrated on the tightest landing of his career. The swimming pool is on the 34th floor.

My residence is clearly visible in bottom left hand corner with the roof top pool.

Not so clear are the high walls surrounding the pool which means a near vertical approach into the pool.

This particular act of folly was an encore to the previous evening when he jumped from the 34th floor pool deck into the pool of the adjacent property.

The secret is to open the 'chute prior to departure and have several assistants hold it open such that it fills immediately the jumper leaves.

One of the most unique and heartwarming monuments I have seen in Cape Town so far stands on Jubilee Square in Simon’s Town, overlooking the harbor. It is a bronze tribute to Just Nuisance, probably one of the most loved dogs in South Africa. Seeing the live size bronze statue of the beloved Great Dane and reading about this apparently wonderful dog, the lump in my throat grew bigger. It is a feel-good story, but also a sad one. Hunting Cay, Belize. There was an Army observation post there just in case the Guatamalans decided to come up from the south. The only landing area was on the beach; the spit of sand shown and one other which was a cleared square backing onto the beach a few yards further on.

Have no idea what it was like to do a duty stretch there (we only visited) but it seemed like tropical paradise.

I haven't been to Bishkek, so I don't know if it's that hilly, but the hills you are looking at are really close to the city, you can ski there, and it's not in one of the 'stans'.

The leaning lighthouse of Kiipsaar, the Kiipsaare Tuletorn, is slowly disappearing into the sea. The lighthouse is located on the Harilaid peninsula. We have visited it in 1997 and again in 2004. Between these two visits things have changed.
