according to the chart in the manual, when the pitch reach more than 11 degrees, there will be a tail strike, my question is: this number is based on the landing gear struts are all the way compressed or neutral position? please shed me some light~thank you ~

You think it matters?

I am wondering if the landing gear is fully compressed, the 11degree pitch limit maybe reduced.

You must have a different chart to me! Mine says 11.5 degrees struts extended and 9 fully compressed. What is your document?

Boeing FCTM section Take Off and Initial Climb gives 11 degrees struts extended.

Section 6.21 " landing" shows pitch angle approx 9 degrees and associated tail clearance with struts compressed. Same chart also shows data with struts extended...quite how you land with the struts completely extended is beyond me!

yeah, I think it is a different chart.
And I found that in my FCTM, during landing when the landing gear strut is extend, the tail strike attitude is 11 degrees, and for the landing gear strut compressed it says a little bit more than 9 degrees.
and my 737-800s have the SFP qulification but one position tailskid.

Same on mine. Both in the company manual and the Boeing docs... In any case, don't even come close to these limits - please :D I flinch during takeoff every time I don't hear the 'clack' and the pitch hits eight or more...

I think the landing gear strut fully extended during landing only happens when the crew need to make a go-around at 0 altitude without enough power.
and it may lead to a tail strike~

I have been trying to read through thr FCTM and the COMs but i dont seem to find the Tail strike attitude mentioned. But looking at the above given replies, 11 seems to be a safe bet. But if anyone has an exact value, please pass on the information.

Thank You

Its all in fctm.
In my airline, any pitch above 7degr should trigger an 'attitude' call out by pnf.
Vref at pitch about 5 is target, not like im looking inside or anything:E

On the FCTM look for "Touchdown body Attitudes" then "Body clearance at touchdown". Anything above 8 degrees is asking for it on the -800. If I read correctly 8 deg pitch = 8 inches of clearance struts compressed.

simple one I was taught on my conversion to 737-800 - dont exceed 10 degrees pitch up below 10 feet RA (on take off) easy to remember!
