Saw a Chinook circling over Heathrow today, or more precisely Harmondsworth at approx 1230. Any ideas?

Oh purleese! Lighten up, I'm sure Bluejay wasn't the only person in the vicinity of Heathrow to wonder what the wokka was up to...

Grow up!

Sea King going up the Fylde coast this afternoon, was the HRH chap flying it?

It's a bloody helicopter flying close to several bloody airports. Nothing more. Why is it worthy of an enquiry on Mil Aircrew?

What's a wokka? It's just as easy to type Chinook - or is this meant to show that you're one of the boys?

Not unless you also mention 'Tonkas' and 'Tiffies'; or, to be truly spotterish, 'Dave'....:\

apparently a mate of a mate told me that a Chinook's a Chinook, - but once it's "flying" it becomes a Wokka . . . bloke down the pub told me. must be true.:E

Blimey,

It was only a simple question!!!!!

@ forget - where do you get off?
Reason for asking - Mmmm let me think, it is not exactly a regular occurance to see a military helicopter operating so close to a civvie airport, above all I was curious (didn't realise it was a crime!)
Reason for posting on here - why not, it is a military aircraft after all and for some reason I thought that someone on a military aircrew forum may be able to provide some insight, after all it was not exactly covert!

forget - by the sound of it I probably have more right to post on here than you, especially as you didn't even know what a wokka was!

Holding at Sipson before crossing RW27 and landing at Feltham HLS. Everybody happy now?

UAV689 is correct. It popped it to Feltham about 12:45.

I thought feltham was closing down anyway, any update of when?

UAV689, the current plan is that parts, but not all, of it co-locate to Wyton in late 2012.

Thanks crosso, suppose it is more sensible to move it closer to Brampton, surprised they didn't try and ram it into northalt like the rest of London based military...!!!

The grey cells may be old and falling in number, but wasn't 'Dave' born on PPRUNE?
