Not found any hotels with crew rates in Rome. My experience of the place is that in a city with so much charachter, it's best to avoid the soul-less chain hotels and go for the more authentic experience of staying in a small 'Pensione' or family run hotel. Just have a look at the booking web-sites and see what's available. Last year, we had a lovely week in a small establishment on the Via Viminale near the Termini rail station. Small, friendly, with an owner only too pleased to help with anything, close to the centre (a short walk to the Colisseum) and close to restaurants, it was ideal. Can't remember the name of it, but there are plenty around there like it. They're not too expensive either.

Try this Grand Hotel Villa dei Papi - Marino - Castel Gendolfo (http://www.hotelvilladeipapi.it/it.php) - I used to stay there on night stops. I'm sure they will give a crew rate.
Similar to DW's suggestion... Hotel Andreotti (http://www.hotelandreottirome.com/) where I have been a few times, but it was in the late 80s as a kid with my dad...it looks very different now, but I remember the owner being very friendly and the place quite nice (for a kid who didn't like hotels!).

Thank you guys,
I had not thought of the Pensione route, and that looks like the way we will go.

When in Rome stay at Hotel Giulio Cesare.
Also in the spectators spotters corner section of this forum, under the heading FCO or CIA, post No.3 list a recommendation.

Many thanks,
Probably will stay with the Pensione although I have found, on line, various convents that take guest.
Now, at another time many years ago that would have been something to jump at!! What a thought??
