With the MRA4 gone, although it could be argued that it never actually arrived, a British Harrier extremely unlikely to grace our skies again and the Dominee gracefully bowing out, does anyone know the current projected OSD’s for the last of the types rapidly approaching the day when they will land for the last time and wonder what they did to deserve to be grounded . . . . . . . F3, legacy C-130, ASTOR etc?
(Yes, I know I need to get out more for thinking aircraft have feelings, I used to talk to them as well!;))

Squirrel HT1 - 2013? Griffon HT1 - 2013?

If it's any consolation (as if!), these two will probably last until 2015 at least, when the current DHFS contract ends.

RAF 2021, RN 2025 (to operate as historic flotilla with no defense role from 2011), British Army 2030 (recruiting slogan to change from 'be the best' to 'do your unpaid community service with us' wie)

I am genuinely feeling pretty depressed about the future state of our proud and world respected armed forces, I accept the need for cuts but for God's sake, lets keep some dignity, capability and respect/reward for the few who will make up their numbers. We are becoming the nations we used to smirk at on ops......If people start leaving in large numbers things could become unsustainable fast for those left behind, irrecoverable decline in the armed forces is a frightening prospect.
:hmm:
