Air Transport World just announced Emirates as its Airline of the year.

ATW named Emirates Airline as its Airline of the Year for 2011, citing its strong commitment to safety and operational excellence, its trendsetting customer service and its superb financial performance including a 22-year consecutive annual profit streak.

Emirates named ATW Airline of the Year, Air Nostrum is Regional Airline of the Year | ATW Online (http://atwonline.com/airline-finance-data/news/emirates-named-atw-airline-year-air-nostrum-regional-airline-year-0118)

Is this justified, especially the "strong commitment to safety"?

How much did they pay for that award????

Now we have to listen to that famous slogan again!!! "The award winning airline"

Especially after the 'no wx radar' incident late last year!!!! I've heard some interesting things coming out of that one...

Emirates came 8th in the Skytrax awards.
Emirates came 1st in the ATW awards.

One is judged by the passengers who fly the airlines and the other judged by
magazine editors.
Pick which is more representative of the real world.

Between the two it's well established that Skytrax is more prone to persuasion.

Kijan.....and the others who will criticize people like me, Jack and WK, let me tell you something. There was a stage when we were all very proud to work for EK. Currently, we do work with some great people on a day to day basis. But, we get lie after lie from the management of EK. People who don't care about safety, who do not honour contracts, who are petty and small minded. People who have no integrity. And who are bullies.

All of us who work here want to work and see EK doing well. Many people who write far more eliquently than I do have stated so many different issues. So, if we raise questions about this "award" please do reply why we should not be free to do so?

I wonder if the people that gave this "award" read this forum and if they would choose to fly EK?

And to our friends in "management" who avidly read this forum, let me say this. Imagine how much more money you could make (and hence your bonus) if you treated the staff who make the money for EK decently and fairly?
