Flying economy on this trip. Is it really as bad and archaic as the many reviews suggest it is?

Thanks

Well - if that's what people say, and you don't believe them, why not just go ahead and book?
You can't have it both ways - most pax don't praise a good/ordinary flight, but many pax complain about a bad flight. The fact is that the quality of flights, unlike hotels for example, depend very much on the quality of the crew/staff on the day. You can be lucky or not so lucky.
IMHO there is no smoke without fire!

Haven't flown this route but flew Madrid-Santiago, Chile in Iberia economy last year.

It was hilariously dated - the movies they showed (not seat-back so no choice) were You've Got Mail (1998) and Bridges of Madison County (1995). I thought it must have been some special 1990s nostalgia flight. But apparently not - they showed the same movies on the way back so I guess that's what they consider decent IFE.

Maybe if they stick with it long enough it will attain some kind of retro cool?
