Had the pleasure of talking to a scenic flight operator over the Xmas break, at a family party as he lives across the road from my aunt. Long story short, we seemed to hit it off and he told me of an upcoming staff pilot vacancy and told me he would give me a call before he advertised the position. It is only part time and in quite a secluded area, but is perfect for me.

What I am asking is, I was thinking of preempting him calling me and getting a CV into him and going to see him. Only thing is I am still training have just completed my MEIR but have yet to sit my CPL. What would I put in the CV? and any other comments on how to approach the situation would be greatly appreciated?

personally, I would wait until you have the CPL, then drop him a line to let him know that it is all complete and that you are still as keen as mustard to go work for him.

A CV with no actual qualification is... well....fish and chips wrapping.

Or in this case fish and chups.

Nothing wrong with fush and chups. Just keep in contact with him without pestering him I asume you told him you where still in training.

Yes, he knew I was in training, we had quite a long discussion about what part of my training I was up to including what planes I was rated on and might be in the future. Just didn't want to send basically a blank piece of paper because as of yet I really have no qualifications.

Don't send a CV just yet. Maybe find a reason to remind him of your existence (ask for advice on whether or not to get such and such a rating or endorsement or some other question).

Once you've passed the test (no need to have the actual licence as, at least here in Aus, it takes a few weeks for CASA to type a few lines and click print) then send a CV showing that you are qualified.
