My brother-in-law (a brewer) has been asked to make a real ale for an 'end of Harrier' event and he's asked me for ideas for a suitable name. I've thought of:

Hover Stop
Kestrel's End
Wittering No More
Bedford's Bitter
Golden Rivet (for the SHAR boys!)
Falklands Freedom

Any more ideas gratefully received but he needs the name by Fri 14 Jan... HELP!!!!

A few to add and promote further thinking:

Peggy Power (Peggie or Pegasus)
Reaction Nozzle
Puffer Duct
VIFF
Jump Jet

Would like to know who's brewing it and where the outlets going to be if your able to tell us!

RIP Harrier

Surely it won't need a name - it will just announce itself as a Harrier ale .....:E;)

Alternatively how about ....

Thanks so far, sadly he's only providing one barrel, so no freebies or bottles to buy!

If it's normal brown beer - 'Bona Beer'

If it's double stout - 'La Muerta Negra'

If it's lager - 'SHARmonade'

Go for a German-style dark lager and call it 'Ems Dunkel'.

Doesn't this bring up shades of "I'm Julian, and this is my friend Sandy, from Round the Horne" all those years ago......

Possibly not the image for macho aviators to project, or maybe.......:confused::confused::ouch:

Thanks for all the names, he's settled on 'Hover Stop'. Hope those going enjoy the day, the beer, the memories and the dits! I'll have a quiet beer too and recall sleepless nights on 2 Deck and being in FLYCO during Bosnia times.

I was going to suggest "Prima Donna", or more appropriately "P45", but it appears I'm too late.

Thanks for all the names, he's settled on 'Hover Stop'.

Damn, that means I won't get to try any of it. I think I went to an 'end of Harrier event' last month, so does this mean that it's going to be a regular event and if so do we get to re-start each time afterwards? Oh and while I'm in a "I remember when I used to be a V/STOL boffin" questioning sort of mood, exactly how politically-incorrect would it be if we did fly our HS1174 again? I wouldn't mind having to cross-deck to the CdG to keep 'on message', as I recall that was quite good fun the last time we did it.

How would we be with "Hawker's Vectored Nectar?"
Now that would've been a decent bier in the 'Hover Inn' :ok:
