Sad indeed. Surprisingly I never saw it as a 747. However, I did see N747PA, Douglas DC7C of PanAm at London Airport in July 1960..

I saw it as a 747, but I'd far rather have seen it as a DC7C in 1960. However, I was only 2 in that year, so not possible, unless unknowingly.

Awful lot of what looks like reinforcing steel in that demolition pic.

If so, there may not have been much actual 747 left.

...prepared to be totally wrong in my analysis!
