Sorry, but couldn't resist this one - from the Carlisle News and Star :ok:

The children of Moresby Primary School were delighted and highly excited yesterday morning when a helicopter on its coastal route from Cardiff to the Outer Hebrides was forced to come inland and make an unscheduled landing due to thick fog.It landed on Moresby Rugby Union pitch, next to the school, and then moved over to the school field to the delight of all the pupils.

Sadly for them, the school’s older children were on a residential visit to York and missed it all.

Teacher Jane Lawson, with parent helpers Tracy Oakes and Lisa Bowden, were on their way into town for equipment for the school’s gardening project when the helicopter was spotted.

“We wanted to have a closer look and invited them over to the school. They’ve shown the children round the helicopter and explained it all. The children were so excited. It’s been great. We invited the crew, Capt Phil Hall-Davis, the pilot and David Clarke, the engineer, to stay for lunch with the children. They had steak pie and potato wedges and rice pudding and were both awarded Clean-Plate stickers!’’ said Miss Lawson.

It seems the Veritaire Ltd helicopter was on its way to work with a Navy trial in the Hebridean range. They were heading for Carlisle airport to re-fuel when hit by thick fog. They came inland and parked on the rugby pitch. They waited until the fog had lifted before taking off again with a fond farewell from the pupils. Certainly beats lessons!

Well done chaps!:D :D

I'm sure someone from CAA will have their arses for this. Not sure why, but if it involved happiness and helicopters they are not going to be at all pleased.

That's easy, acting like Pan Lickers instead of @##@ Lickers.
All the more reason to applaud their actions.

I think the CAA will probably like to know exactly what they told the kids and what methods of presentation they used, and if they were qualified to instruct at the time!:} Maybe Jamie Oliver will pop up as well when he hears that the kids were eating steak pies instead of veggie burgers and smoothies.

Did they identify David Clarke by the name on his headset?
