Hi Guys,

I have a prop at Aust Air Props that I need to get from Bankers to Melbourne. (just a 2-blade)

Can anyone help out? I don't want to hassle the guy about sending it to me as he did me a huge favour by working on it and I don't want to bother him about boxing it up and sending it down. I'll re-imburse as required. PPL hour builders not need apply.:)

Thanks!

XXX

Gday XXX, Don't know if this helps but heard a rumour that Australia Post now have 500kg express post parcel bags, guarenteed next day delivery. Failing that, maybe Roger Wilco got his hands on a C209 and can help you out.

What you don't trust a PPL with your prop?

PPL holders feel free, but I ain't paying no inflated hourly flying school solo bugsmasher rate for you to fly in any get it ! I'd fly there myself for a fifth of that.

A 209 won't be necessary thanks, it's only a small prop. I was working on transporting a prop recently, off an ag-aircraft, it was too wide for a full sized tandem trailer. (Would hate to prop-strike that mother)

I don't mind getting it for you but would it be okay if I bolted the thing on the front of the C209s 4 blade for the trip? Bankstown to Melbourne should only take half an hour with a six blade.

BTW, if you could also order a wheel, that'd be real handy. I'll have to strap it on too, 'cause I knocked the lefty off while mustering bunyips in SW QLD.

This thread bewilders me, exactly who do you want to pick it up XXX? Were you hoping for a good natured freight dog or were you happy with an aircraft owner flying down and charging you cost? Strange.

It's pretty easy. I just need a prop picked up from Bankstown and to be delivered anywhere in Melbourne, some time perhaps in the next few weeks - no rush at all.

I thought "someone" out there might have been making such a trip so I thought I'd ask.

Nothing dodgey and no I was not hoping to have someone try and hire an aircraft and charge me for it, I could just do that myself. The prop isn't worth THAT much!

I specifically didn't want the gent that did the work on it to have to box it up and send to me when ultimately he did me a huge favour in repairing it.

Anyone here willing to subsidise XXX's operation?

I;ve got a car in Melbourne that needs to be transported up to Brisbane, anyone got any spare space in a space shuttle (just thinking about keeping my overheads/costs down here) or the likes? I thought "someone" out there might have been making such a trip so I thought I'd ask.

Not to play the a$$hole here, but do you generally ask favours of people you don;t even know from a bar of soap? Furthermore, what if someone does decide to help you out, what happens if they ding your prop in transport because you were to cheap to box it, who's drama is it then?

A little dramatic there havick, it's just a prop after all!

It was a fair ask. A pilots forum where literally dozens of pilots on here fly from Bankstown every day and I thought someone might be doing the trip.

I don't know that many pilots but I know of 2 that regularly travel to Bankstown from Melbourne & return but neither of them are going in the short term.

That being said by an absolute coincidence I now have to go to Bankstown on Sunday and I could have picked it up except that the place will be closed. Perhaps someone was coincidentally heading up but not on a weekend. It was worth asking.

You obviously didn't read my message when I explained why I wasn't "boxing" it up.

As a fellow pilot if anyone needs something done I'm always happy to put my hand up. That goes for flying somewhere to pick up someone with mechanical issues, dropping of and or moving cars for 100 hourlies etc, moving aircraft and all that stuff, it's just what we do for each other... isn't it? I guess they don't teach you about that kind of stuff nowdays in a sausage factory.

I'm not even going to bother with your comment on sausage factories, as I actually happen to agree with your sentiments there. Fortunately I am a far cry from that system, even though I happen to have a plank CPL my current employment is actually flying sar helo's.

A simple 'if anyone's heading in that direction' would've sufficed though, without putting all the constraints and attacking the ppl's, you never know, there may have been a guy that just needed an excuse to head down your way to burn off some hours and strap down your prop in the back..

I'm always too happy to help out other drivers too if the need arises..
