View Full Version : Air Hong Kong Expats
Hi all.
Just wondering if it is possible for a current pilot at AHK to PM me so that I can ask a few questions about this operator. I have an interview coming up and would like to discuss Ts and Cs etc.
Cheers
PCLCREW 6th Oct 2010, 19:46 Are you currently living in SE Asia? I ask because I was shotdown from AHK because I was not currently living in SE Asia...
Just want to see if its worth sending in another resume.
Thanks
Sorry I couldnt answer your actual questions :ugh:
DashQ 10th Oct 2010, 12:04 Ok. No takers.
Can anyone answer this then. Is 8000 us dollars a fair estimate for monthly income (before tax) or am I way off??
PCLCREW 15th Oct 2010, 19:52 you talking Capt or FO? From my research if you are talking FO you are way off... Less then half that is what to expect.
Turkpilot 17th Oct 2010, 18:47 I have an interview the end of this month. They told me for a Captain slot, DEC. What is the reality, on if interview goes well, about when training would start? The letter says this is the 1st interview, so there must be a 2nd? Also, what is realistic pay? Thanks to everyone.
DashQ 21st Oct 2010, 11:18 Sorry PCL. Missed your first question.
I am not currently living in SE Asia and yes, I am looking at FO. Looks like the pay might let the job down a bit.
cessna95 25th Oct 2010, 10:17 Turkpilot,
When is your interview exactly? AHK website has only a posting for DEFO. How much total time do have? any jet time?
hongkongfooey 27th Oct 2010, 14:54 Dash Q, I think you will find 6-7K US to be a fair estimate ( not " less than half of 8K " ), as has been done to death on this forum in the past that is a pittance to live here when a decent flat will cost you 3k US.
Also the bond is massive and enforcable
Good luck
Turkpilot 28th Oct 2010, 10:10 I interviewed here recently and found the folks to be quite nice and honest. Looks like they are expanding. As for DEC positions probably not anytime soon. Maybe end of next year.
pilotcpb 5th Nov 2010, 03:25 i see they are hiring on 747-400 now...... cant find any info online about their 747 program, do tell the details please, number of aircraft coming, destinations, etc!!!!
Just another student 23rd Dec 2010, 04:37 Anything at all further regarding AHK?
I guess that the 3000 hr minimum is exactly that and there will be many takers meeting and actually have above the minimum requirements?
I have only 2500hrs (99% on Boeings), so would think there is little to be gained from submitting an application, but would be interested in any further information for future reference.
Feel free to PM me if anyone can enlighten me further.
Cheers
JAS
ReverseFlight 23rd Dec 2010, 08:50 I have only 2500hrs (99% on Boeings),
Why don't you send in your application anyway ? You're reasonably close to the requirement. Don't under-estimate yourself. It only costs a click of your mouse / trackball / whatever.
Just another student 23rd Dec 2010, 17:30 I was in CXcity just yesterday, should have popped in and dropped off a CV lol :ok:
FR8R H8R 4th Jan 2011, 07:07 So 25 hours of non-boeings was all the training you received? What sort of flight school did you attend that does ME ratings in a boeing?
Just another student 4th Jan 2011, 14:54 FR8R H8R, the post was not meant to be an exact representation of my actual flying experience, just an indication of the hours I have and that a vast majority are Boeing. I was fortunate enough to start flying jets with only 200 hrs under the belt.
starskate 24th Jan 2011, 20:17 200 hours... and your in a jet .. Lucky guy.

blusky75 4th Feb 2011, 14:51 what about the salary after tax on b737??
Fly4Fun 4th Feb 2011, 15:10 what about the salary after tax on b737??
They don't have B737.
Air Hong Kong operates A300-600F and soon B747-400F.
blusky75 4th Feb 2011, 15:55 hh ok..i thought the company was hong kong airline express
slowstream 2nd May 2011, 02:05 Air Hong Kong,
Still advertising for crews!
I was invited for an interview, spent my dime getting there and back and received notice I passed the 1st stage interview but that they've suspended pilot hiring and don't know when it will start again.
Just be advised and maybe ask questions if you're invited out for an interview before you spend your money.
Cape Fear 2nd May 2011, 07:04 Not B744 yet ! issues with AOC. Money is not good to answer your question. 6-7 US per month for F/O, take tax and accomodation off that also. Limited bases available too, most of the chaps are ok but a lot of the indo/phil pots seem to have a chip on there shoulders. First jet for most of them, could be a great company but alas it is a chip off CX. very little flying 40 to 45 hours per month max ! sounds good but sitting around earning pea-nuts in HKG is painful. I am trying to get in with another company here but I feel they might have some kind of agreement going on, the bond $85,000 over 3 years or more if you join with no jet time ! The only thing stopping me going back to instructing for the most part.:ugh:
