View Full Version : Airline self awarded accolades

It started (in my consciousness) with BA's legendary 'The World's Favourite Airline'. Maybe never true, but how many airlines wish an ad company had grabbed that one for them? (although a certain low fare Irish carrier claims that for themselves these days as well)

Nowadays you get a selection of self awarded accolades that are totally unmeasurable (and therefore unprovable) or so specific in their nature that they are probably the only airline that qualifies for that category.

Anyone thing it's all somewhat wasted money to the Ad men, as surely nobody is influenced by many of these airy self awarded accolades, for example:

'Europe's largest independent regional airline carrier' - how many airlines would qualify for that very specific self award? Largest number of planes, destinations, passengers etc?
'Europe's Leading Low Fares Airline' - not measurable.

Would be interested to hear any other meaningless self awards, maybe there are a few that have a sense of humour!
