Forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong area. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who remembers anyone from the BFTS in Ponca City?
My uncle did his training there. I know the chances are slim since it was so long ago but I thought I would give it a try.

Hiya

have a look in the PPRune "Military Aircrew" forum, at the thread entitled "Gaining an RAF Pilots Brevet in WWII"- there are lots of references to training in the USA including Ponca. I'm sure a lot of the readers there could assist you.

Added later

First reference to Ponca is by Cliffnemo on page 3 of that thread, but there is then lots more.

There was a Texan on our course. I may have a full list of all students at Ponca, some where , but sure Mike Igglesden has, and Puala Dennison who still lives in Ponca.
She is also on Facebook.

Thank you for the replies :)

I actually got an e-mail from Paula and she told me that my uncle was in course 5 and is mentioned in her book.
I also got a picture of his grave from one of the CWGC sites. I feel bad that I don't get home as much as I would like.
He is buried in Bannockburn Cemetery. Luckily it is one of the cemeteries that is maintained. He was killed during a training flight in England as was his crew.
Sorry, I forgot to mention he is was from Scotland. It's just that I live in Texas now.
I do a have some old photographs of him, one of which he is sitting in his plane in Ponca City.
He was such a handsome devil. I really wish I had been able to know him.
My other uncle was in the UXB and was killed when one exploded.
