Today I was treated to the spectacle of two very different aircraft flying in close formation over my home in the Vaucluse. One was the very recognisable Fouga Magister and the other looked to me like a Grumman Bearcat or Douglas Skyraider. They did a few wide circuits of the area in tandem and echelon, and I was too engrossed to think about grabbing my camera.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the correct identification of the propeller aircraft and the base they operate from (Avignon/Orange/Salon?)

A Zephyr (Navalised Magister) and Skyraider are based at Avignon - might be the ones?

Lucky you! I was at Nyons yesterday and did not see them near there. Where was it you saw them?

Thanks for the identification.

The pair did a few wide circles between Le Thor and L'isle sur la Sorgue before heading back towards Avignon. They may have been practising for a display and I will have the camera ready if they appear again.
