Guys & Gals,
What was the name of the (I think) 4 seat would-be supersonic private jet being developed in the U.K. a while ago, a handsome little beastie, a bright red example of which resides, I believe, in the Bournemouth area.
I'm straining my old brain, and cannot remember the name of it.
Thanks.

Just out of curiosity...

I looked up G-BKRL in Google and got lots of pics of a white aircraft, a Leopard, presumably the same as the OP's.

Here's one of the links. (http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/G-BKRL.html)

G-BKPL is a Socata TB9, just in case I misread it..

Is it red or white now?

Capot,

I believe the photos in your link were taken some years ago. Another link suggests that G-BKRL was repainted red quite recently for its advertising role (as shown in evansb's pic) for the Bournemouth Air Festival.

Bit of drift.................wasn't there someone at Bournemouth who bought a few DH Vampire T11s with the intention of converting them to high-speed exec. jets Sounds a bit of a lost cause, but what happened to the aircraft ?

Possibly the Jet Craft MJ-2 ''Mystery Jet" proposed by American John Morgan in the late 60s. He had plans for a six-place executive jet using modified surplus Vampire T11s. A full-size mock-up was built by Marshalls of Cambridge in the UK, but the MJ-2 never flew. Apparently a similar concept was resurrected by Jet Craft in the late 80s, but again came to nothing.

I saw this in the back of a hangar at Henderson NV around 1986 or so. It appeared to be made of wood and was falling apart so I didn't bother taking a photo :ugh: .

Yup, sure looks supersonic to me, assuming that the speed of sound is about 300 knots.

IIRC the two Vampites at 23 MU at Aldergrove were bought by an American for that purpose. Remove the bang seats and there was room for four. John Travolta owned what he described as an old British fighter so he may have had one.

It was here last year in red - a stones' throw from me.
