Hi there

I am the holder of South African CPL+ME/IR with 1200 TT. As I am a Danish national I am wanting to convert to the JAA system so I can fly closer to home. I have decided to do my distance learning through CATS.

My question is: what flying must I do after I pass all 14 exams in order to be issued with a "frozen" ATPL (CPL with subjects done)? And can I wait to do the Class 1 Medical until I actually start the flying?

Thanks in advance

Cheers!

You don't have to have your medical done prior to the exams but it does help. Reasons, if there's any thing dodgy EASA wise is picked up before you spend the money. (yes, there are some differences).
Also, you'll get a CAA reference number that will become your ARN so the CAA has something to "reference" your exam results to.

Post exams and medical?
You'll need to do some flying to validate your CPL and IR.
Best go to LASORs on the CAA for a guide.
