Why do the mods keep closing our 99 Sqn Herc pull thread?
:ugh:

They don't do charity threads on here. Tried it myself a while ago.

The Mods do have some discretion to 'sponsor' individual charity threads in their own Forums. I'd suggest you drop them a note and see if they are amenable.

The lack of blanket approval is to prevent every man and his dog starting a thread about his own pet charity. No matter how worthy the cause might seem to the individual poster, over exposure to charity requests is not what PPRuNe is ultimately about.

Fortunately I was on-line when the thread concerning the late Keith 'Druid' Richards was posted at 1629 today - before it was pulled about 20 minutes later.....

Remembering Keith Richards

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A number of PPRuNers will remember Keith Richards, who sadly died earlier this year from cancer. During his RAF career he flew in Canberras, Victors, Tristars and VC10s.

During the next week Keith Filbey, who was also diagnosed with cancer during the last year but, following treatment, appears to have beaten it so far, with his wife Anne, plan to walk the Cotswold Way, raising donations for the Sue Ryder Hospice in Leckhampton, where Keith(R) received caring and dedicated treatment during the last months of his life. They aim to raise £25k.

Anyone wishing to make a donation please send me a PM.

Before it was pulled by the poster ... you forgot to add that bit BEagle ;)

It's been forwarded on to Wholigan for a decision.

Someone pass Keith Filbey my regards - I was first OCSSS at MPA when Keith was coming down with 216 when he was OC. The joint quiz team (MPA's 3 RAF officers and the Tristar crew) was called "If we don't win, we won't fly you home"

It was simply closed so that interested people could see it. In that respect I bumped it to the top on at least 3 occasions seeing that it was imminent (Sept 4th) and might slip off the page. As you can see it is at the top again.

So, you see some recognition was being given to it.

But, in respect of your same post(s) on PPRuNe we do NOT allow multiple posts.

Beags, I pulled the post because I didn't read this one until after I had posted, and was not aware of the "charity" limitations. :O As 10W says, I have now submitted it for approval. If approved,:ok: it would be better to have it as a separate post, so that the title is more prominent, and it is not highjacking this one!

newswatcher - thanks for the explanation. Anyway, at least I was able to open the link to Keith's sponsorship page and donate something in memory of 'Druid'. He was a true gent and it was a great pleasure to have known and worked with for many years on TTF.

Looks like Keith and Anne should have a good day for the first leg of their walk - TAFs for Staverton, Coventry and even Cardiff all look nice! They'll need that sun screen.

Thanks for permitting the thread to be re-opened, Wholi'!

I am sure that they would also welcome support from anyone keen to take advantage of this fine weather. :E If anyone would like the itinerary, please PM! They are doing South to North.
