Lovely story from the BBC, rather moving:

BBC News - Battle of Britain veterans take to the skies again (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11120357)

..Yes - Will bring back many memories - some of them sad - no doubt.

In a small way I managed to fly my myself a similar experience - As a small boy living West of Croydon airport when it was attacked in daylight by a swarm of German fighters - I can recall to this day as they approached
about 9 abreast at almost roof height - machine gun straffing towards my street in Wallington - and later we all went around picking up clips, shellcases and bullets lying in our streets.

Some 36 years later having cleared with London control I was fortunate in being able to fly at low level over the the same route over the old airport, over my old house - viewing the very same 1940's scene that had
been in German gunsights.

Best wishes to those BofB veteran pilots
