BBC reporting that a rescue helicopter was sent from Kinloss to the southwest
Me thinks it was from a little closer to home! :E

Chivenor methinks. It would have been tasked by Kinloss RCC.

Typical careless reporting - the journos regularly assume that, because the spokesman they deal with is at Kinloss, the aircraft must have come from there. Even the local press up north never seemed to gather that the helicopters have always been based at Lossiemouth, and there are frequent errors of the "RAF helicopter from Prestwick", "Navy helicopter from Kinloss" variety.

Its not even that complicated, most civvies haven't a clue where Kinloss, Chivenor, Boulmer etc are located, and that includes reporters.
