Apart from the "Invited and involved" functions at the end of the year....what have we left for public displays of the F111?

I see the ADF airshow at Willytown will have them, but as you would not expect, there is no chance of flying in. Have these folk not seen how to run an airshow before. The shows at YAMB have had public arrivals but not this one.:ugh:

Anyone on the inside have any information.

As taxpayers none of us resent the money spent on F111's and I believe they should keep a couple operational for public displays, it would be a far better investment in publicity for the ADF than some of the dumb things our federal government wastes money on for stupid public projects.

Last flypast in Canberra ever was last week. Unfortunately two showed up, only one did fly past, must have been 1000ft at 250kts or so, as it was completely unimpressive. May as well have been a light twin. Disappointing, as it was for Vietnam vets day :(

Lets hope someone authorises a public display of low and fast between now and retirement :ok:

My first experience with them was with the AIRTC at Evans Head bombing range, with one doing a mock bombing run on the observation building we were standing on, which happened to be a demountable toilet. It seemed like the sound was going to tear the building apart it came in so close.

For old times sake:

For the folk in SEQ, there is Riverfire in 2 weeks or so. Not exactly a fly in venue:8, although I did manage to snaffle a mooring permit a couple of years ago and found the night time dump n burn, along with the sound echoing between the city tower blocks and the Kangaroo Point cliffs, pretty spectacular.

Strikes me it would be only polite for the RAAF to put on a show at Amberley this year to mark the changing of the guard, so to speak.

There is a farewell airshow for the F-111:

Pigs' Tales
Thursday 2 & Friday 3 December 2010
RAAF Base Amberley
Queensland, Australia

The retirement of the Royal Australian Air Force F-111 fleet on 3 December 2010 will mark a significant milestone in the history of military aviation in Australia. We are delighted to be able to showcase and celebrate the life and service of the F-111 aircraft through Pigs' Tales, the official F-111 retirement ceremonies.

Pigs' Tales will not only provide a forum to commemorate the history of these amazing aircraft, but will also provide an avenue to honour all of the men and women who flew, maintained and supported the F-111 during its service to the Royal Australian Air Force.

I do hope that you will be able join in the farewell to this icon of the Australian skies.

Air Marshal Mark Binskin, AO

Chief of Air Force

I hope to be there. :ok:

Edit: My apologies, I just read the attendance criteria :ugh:

I can't believe they don't have a 'Public' day. I may not even meet the criteria...

C`mon Dick, you are the quintessential rich Aussie who supports anything Australian I thought ?? Spend a few of those mega dollars that you have squirelled away and do a deal with the RAAF to keep and maintain a Pig !! You can even brand it with a small logo of yourself and paint it yellow and black !!!
